Hands down the best gym in Montreal. After taking a break from climbing for a few years, I gave this gym a shot and it made me fall in love with the sport all over again! The setting is varied and allows to learn or practice different moves at any level, the staff is wholesome and always here to help, and the community is kind, helpful, and welcoming (oh and also the coffee is great and sometimes there is a dog that hangs around, kinda perfect). Whether it’s your first time, looking for a new gym, or just want good coffee and company, look no further!
Medical Direction McGill has now hosted both our spring and fall fundraisers at Café Bloc, and every single time the experience has been incredible. The staff is welcoming, the atmosphere is energetic, and our members always have so much fun. After our events, several of our members even became Café Bloc members themselves, which goes to show how great the space is for both beginners and experienced climbers. We’ll definitely be back often, whether as a team or individually. Highly recommend Café Bloc to anyone looking for a fun, supportive, and community-driven climbing gym in Montréal!
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Café Bloc for making my short trip to Montréal (Fri–Mon for a friend’s birthday) so unforgettable. From the start, the vibe was so warm and welcoming— the staff were incredibly kind, and the community made it so easy to connect, talk, and share the experience. The route setting was creative and fun, with challenges that kept me smiling the whole way through. I also really appreciated the variety of footwear and applications available— honestly, way beyond what I’m used to at my home gym. There was one staff member in particular who stood out: she was dressed in white, had short hair, tattoos, and a nose piercing. She went above and beyond helping me with beginner footwear, giving solid advice, and patiently going back and forth to get the right sizes. I felt bad for making her run around so much, but she did it with such kindness, and it really made a difference in my experience. I wish I had caught her name so I could thank her properly. This was my very first time here, and I can genuinely say it was one of the highlights of my trip. I’ll definitely be back in the future— Café Bloc has set the bar so high for what a climbing community should feel like. Thank you again for everything !!
Very cool place and very cool people. My 10 year old daughter had lots of fun. One more reason for us to visit montreal again.
Cafe Bloc is my favorite bouldering gym so far. They offer drinks and snacks, and the general ambiance is amazing ! There are quite a lot of walls and levels for everyone. I love that they have two areas for stretching and a mini gym with weights and bars. The place looks clean and cozy, with plants and paintings on the wall, some sofas to lounge while you rest or watch other people climb. I would recommend trying their oat milk lattes ! They also have a terrasse on the roof with one extra wall during summer and some chairs and hammocks. Like in most bouldering gyms, people are very friendly and helpful. ❤️ They have nice showers and a small locker room. Great shoes selection. One of my favorite things is their shared sauna. It's the reward after the session ! I think every gym should have one !
