If you have a chance to go to the Haunted Museum event they hold around Halloween, I highly recommend going!!! It was so fun. They had trivia and photo ops and you could add on food and drinks. It was so fun, and costumes are allowed as long as you follow guidelines. Event is 21+

Fantastic, magical day the Natural History Museum. Some of the absolute best dinosaur displays Ive seen. Breathtaking exhibit. Also an incredible Bird Hall. The Hall of American and African Animals is also fantastic. We were very excited to see the Egyptian Exhibit, but it was sadly closed. The section with gems and minerals to enormous and had we had more than a day to do the museum we would have spent more time exploring that as well. There is a cafe in the basement that had a nice selection of hot and cold items. The store was really comprehensive. Parking was very expensive which seemed excessive given its on top of the cost of getting into the museum. But overall it was worth it. If you take the elevator mind the note inside the elevator that tells you what floor to use for the Museum. Of note, one ticket gets you into BOTH the Museum of Natural History and the Art Museum and both are under the same roof. You can explore each one and the stores are very close to each other.

This is a great experience for those who not only love natural history, but also love the architecture of the gilded age! The natural history exhibits are informative, but not exhausting, giving enough information about scientific discoveries and processes without boring the public. The dinosaurs are some of their most impressive displays, showcasing a variety of species including the famous tyrannosaurus rex, to which this one is the holotype specimen, meaning that it is the first to be recognized as a tyrannosaurus and the gold standard that others use to compare other specimens. The mammal exhibits detail natural life from all around the world, and many of course highlight the local wildlife (western Pennsylvania and specifically the laurel highlands). The bug exhibit was also an impressive collection. The only complaint that I had was that the art museum and the natural history museum were difficult to navigate, though their collections were also impressive despite the Ancient Egyptian exhibits being closed. The gems and minerals were also one of the most elaborate displays of them that I have seen with the exception being the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Overall, this is a great museum for those who want to learn about natural history in the local region as well as around the world.

Amazing museum where you can spend the whole afternoon! We absolutely loved the Polar life/Indian tribe section, wildlife dioramas, the Dino display, the hall of minerals (don't miss this one!!!) and the sculpture hall. Everyone from the staff is very friendly and helpful.

Excellent experience wear some comfortable shoes dress light. Lots of walking and they do have an elevator for ones in wheelchairs or strollers. Once you park in the garage the museum is on level 6 the elevator is a long wait but worth it. You can not leave the parking garage with cash they only take credit cards. Minimum is $10.00. Went today Saturday collage kids everywhere. Enjoy
