I’m a tea snob and I can tell this is the ONLY store in entire RVA who sells good quality first flush Darjeeling tea. I grew up in India drinking the best quality of Darjeeling tea harvested right from the tea gardens of Darjeeling in the Himalayas. Carytown Tea’s first flush may not match the quality of the tea gardens of Darjeeling but it is the closest I can find in RVA. I also recently bought their Coffee Break caffeine free tea for gut health and I’m in love with it. Their prices are expensive though.

I am more on the coffee end of the spectrum, but I was very impressed with CaryTown Teas when I stopped in to pick up a gift. The shop has a cozy vibe, heightened by the aroma of a wide varieties the teas. There are dozens of canisters behind the beautiful brass bar that the staff use to fill customers' requests. The extensive menu guides even a novice tea drinker to unusual blends and flavors. The personal service does make the wait longer, so don't expect to dash in and out. Tea is also served hot. I'm not sure if every blend is available as a hot cup, but the customers seemed happy. It makes me regret not enjoying tea more.

Yesss, Cary Town has a hidden jewel. It was worth the 1.5hr drive to hang out with Andrea. She served me some goodddd camomile tea to help relax my nerves. The shop is clean, organized, filled with special blends, and ready for a girls night book club meeting… make it monthly 🤓

I came in to buy tea for my wife, i asked for a recommendation based off what i know she likes and the lady behind the counter let me smell some and pick them out. I enjoyed the care and presentation of everything. I’ve never seen a store set up like this before. We got to chatting and i mentioned it was a gift for her coming home from a trip, so she gave me a gift bag, a notecard and a menu to go along with my teas. It was so unnecessary but so appreciated and made me want to come back here again. Thank you so much!
