CJ’s Calif Bed and Buscuit Kennel: From Leroy: As a live on site operator, I am responding to a complaints by Greg and his 1 Star review. CJ and I are very proud of the care we have given pets the last 18 yrs,who we consider family members. Greg’s complaint pets wet bed: With the summer heat and with doggy doors/flaps open to outside runs, temperature control is always a deep concern to keep the kennel at a max temp 78 F +-. Sprinklers on timers are added to help the A/C units, cooler and fans in the heat of the day. **** Customers are always notified on drop off, beds may get wet, and attempts to dry the beds and temp replace with ours. Greg did not complain when pets picked up and since the pets were picked up in the morning, the wet bed is on me and if the customer wanted us to pay for a bed, which virtually all can be dried, we would have reduced to bill and even paid if contacted later. Greg’s pets were put in the one larger run we have and it is always with the customers request/agreement with the $10 more charge. The only big run is on the west side!!! We organize/match pets to personality’s and small pets can be on either east or west side. Greg did not comment about the care his pets received as we are proud that we give customer pets very special care just as if they were ours. Greg mentioned they were “fed” ok.. and guessed that was good. Greg never complained to CJ or myself when picking up his pets and never reached out to us. *** I reached out and called Greg this morning, reviewed his complaints. Greg’s main complaints are about a we bed, $ 10 a day extra charge , that he have had to agreeed to beforehand and the pets on a west side , big dog side?! **** Pets are NEVER MIXED OR LET OUT WITH OTHER CUSTOMER DOGS. Greg expressed no comment about the pets personal care. I thanked Greg for being a customer and we would not be seeing him again, since we do value all out customers and pets. There are other kennels in the area for pet care, although Greg seems intent on renting an RV on his next trip, which we welcome as a good choice. *** Greg is a prolific Google reviewer, and we welcome all input and reviews as it guides us to improve the outstanding care we give pets. $240 AND THEIR BED WAS SOAKED IN WATER! If this is what a four star rated kennel is like we wil rent an RV and take our dogs with us. The first red flag was that the they put them on the side with the big dogs and charged us extra saying it was first come first serve. I pointed out that there was a space right there available so if it's first come first serve we should get that space. Then I was told that you have to call. I started this back in May and have the phone records to prove it! So they got put in the corner where the sprinklers soaked the bed we brought (we threw it away and bought another one) and charged extra for that space. We were on our way to see our grandkids in San Diego so they had us over a barrel. Fortunately the dogs were fed and they seem to be okay so thank you for that.

We love taking our dogs here! They are always well taken care of. The owners are always more than happy to send photos or videos of your furry friend. Our last stay our two dogs were there for 7 days and came back in the same health as when we dropped off. The kennels where the dogs stay are very cleaned and well taken care of as well as the run area where to the dogs get to play.

Do not take your dog to CJ’s if you care about your dog’s health. We picked up our dog to find her in pain with scabs, areas of red, peeling skin and missing fur in random spots all over her body. When I asked CJ’s about my dog’s skin, I received an answer that, to summarize, said she was an energetic dog that liked to dig and there was no way they could prevent abrasions. When I responded that I took her to the vet and she had to be started on multiple medications for the inflammation and infection on her skin, they started ignoring my messages. It’s now been 2 weeks and they still haven’t responded to my request for a refund to cover the vet bills. They let my dog suffer when I was only an hour away. At drop off, I told them I would be close and asked them to call me if anything happened. In fact, I even stopped by to check on my dog in the middle of her stay. My dog seemed happy and healthy at that time. However, something obviously changed between my visit and when I picked her up. Proper veterinary care at the first sign of an issue could have prevented it from becoming this bad. Either they failed to notice or just neglected to inform me, allowing it to worsen to the point where my dog was yelping if her ears were touched. My dog is still on medications. Some areas are healing but it seems like it will take a lot more time to get her back to the same dog I dropped off in CJ’s care.

We went our of town for 4 days and left our two dogs with Carilyn and Leroy. They were wonderful to work with. I called several times before our trip and Carilyn was always very kind in answering all of my questions. She sent us videos of the the girls while we were gone. The whole experience was great. We will definitely be taking Luna and Geraldine back the next time we go out of town. We felt really good about our dogs' experience with CJ's Bed & Biscuit.
