⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❌ (Life-Threatening Allergen Failure – No Response from Management) I’m extremely disappointed to be writing this, but after giving Coffee Barker over a week to respond to my private messages and emails with no reply, I feel I have no choice but to share my experience publicly. I visited the Cardiff store and ordered a Nutella latte. I have a severe peanut allergy. At no point was I asked about allergies, and it was not made clear that the drink contained peanuts. There’s no contains peanuts on the menu boards in store, or online on the images attached. After drinking it, I suffered a severe allergic reaction and went into anaphylactic shock. It was only once I was already reacting that staff informed me the drink contained peanuts. I was rushed to hospital and remained there for around six hours receiving emergency treatment. The online menu states the drink “contains nuts” but does not specify peanuts, which are one of the 14 major allergens that must be clearly communicated under UK food safety laws. For someone with a life-threatening allergy, this lack of clarity is extremely dangerous and I would never have thought a hazelnut based drink would contain a peanut if not marked. While staff offered to pay for my Uber to hospital and gave me a free coffee, this felt completely inappropriate given the seriousness of what had happened. This was not a minor issue — it was a medical emergency that almost cost me my life. What concerns me most is that management has not responded at all despite being contacted privately and given ample time to address this. This situation was frightening, avoidable, and highlights serious failures in allergen awareness, communication, and training. I am sharing this in the hope that Coffee Barker takes food safety seriously and puts proper measures in place so that no one else has to go through this. Please be extremely cautious if you have allergies.

Lovely place in terms of the look vibe was good, however customer service needs to improve as the young gent who gave me my pot of tea decided that it was a good idea to not give me a spoon and when I requested 1 he simply said we have run out as if that was offering a solution- eventually he brought me a spoon which made the whole experience a bit of a downer.

Visited on a busy Saturday for breakfast a couple of weeks ago - waited around half an hour for food which felt very reasonable given that the place was heaving. Bacon was overcooked which was a shame given the extra (quite large) cost but overall a tasty & filling brunch.

Drinks a lot more aesthetically pleasing than they taste. Some staff very moody and the queue was incredibly slow. Definitely far from a family owned place run with love and passion for the coffee. I think you can do better in central Cardiff

My family and I recently visited Coffee Barker and had a wonderful time. The coffee was excellent, and the food exceeded our expectations with quality dishes that satisfied everyone. What really stood out was the atmosphere - the design strikes a perfect balance between interesting and classic, creating a welcoming space that feels both stylish and comfortable. The venue offers great flexibility with both indoor and outdoor seating options, both of which provide an enjoyable dining experience. Whether you prefer the cozy interior ambiance or the fresh air of the outdoor area, you really can’t go wrong.
