I discovered this boutique during Covid days when we were unable to get liquor from the LCBO! I have used it a few times. The most recently was today. The wine that I wanted was at least $5 cheaper compared to LCBO! The website is easy to use and the ordering is easy as well. Delivery was about 10 days (not sure if they include weekends in the delivery time). I did get updated messages about when the driving would be close to my house. I noticed on the day of delivery that my address was wrong in the tracking device for the driver. Luckily, I was able to quickly get in touch with the courier services to have my order redirected to the correct address. I did write a note in my order asking that the package be dropped off even if no one was home. I was giving permission for the courier to do this; however, this did not occur. When I wrote to Colio about this issue, they informed me to contact the courier service. I sent them a message and I let Colio know that I had requested this in my order as well. So, I'm not sure how to make it more clearer. It is an inconvenience to stay at home for hours to receive a package, after you have requested them to leave it at the door.

I stopped in to pick up a bottle of wine and left extremely uncomfortable. I overheard the older woman working there angrily ranting to another employee, using words like ‘Punjabs’ and making openly racist comments about immigrants, saying they were ‘ruining Canada.’ The employee looked clearly uncomfortable. It’s shocking that such hateful talk happens in a retail setting. I like the store, but I cannot support a business where the owner openly expresses such prejudice — absolutely shocking behaviour.

My experience here was so odd I struggle to put it into words. I came in to grab a couple seltzers and the older lady working there helped me out. She told me how apples have caffeine and I was quite interested so we started chatting. I do not understand how a conversation about apples, health, and walking after dinner, transformed into a hate filled monologue about immigrants, the children of immigrants, brampton and mississauga, how immigrants drive, and how this lady and her children would never put their kids in public school because there are no "real Canadian kids" there, whatever that means. She brought up the Humboldt bus crash from 7 years ago to talk about how immigrants keep ruining Canada and killing "real Canadians". She said the region of Peel is the worst school board and its no surprise why given that its in Brampton and Mississauga (alluding to the fact that brown people live here). After she was done ranting about immigrants, she starting talking about how Gen Z is trash, and lazy, and entitled. She went on about how Boomers and the Silent Gen were so much better, just bringing up seemingly random ideas and events as evidence. The most funny, and perhaps shocking, or even scary part of all this, is that I am a brown skinned Gen Z child of immigrants. This lady has 0 self awareness, immense bigotry, and needs to check herself. I am debating posting my experience at Colio Wine Boutique to other platforms if appropriate steps cannot be taken.

The Westdale location in Hamilton is convenient. The wine is okay, nothing to write home about. Nice selection of ciders. Store looked good. The customer service however was odd. I felt ignored. Nobody seemed to care to offer any words. This boutique shop would be better served with more engaged staff. Just a thought.

Their offering of Thornbury ciders is what brought me to this store’s attention, but they also have a great variety of (delicious) wines. When I was able to visit in person, I received great recommendations and friendly service. I have also ordered several times through delivery service (appreciating the convenience) and have never had any issues with my orders.
