This is my third visit to Comfort Cafe and my second visit being helped by Jorge, who is such a great soul here, as are the rest of the staff, too. There is not a bad thing to be had on their menu. For a place with a mission near and dear to my heart, I’m happy this place exists to provide the opportunities that it does.
I have reviewed this place before. I don't know where it went but my opinion has not changed. This is an incredible cause with an incredible staff with some incredible foods. I've talked to people that said they went and it was an hour wait so they blew it off. I've talked to people that said they weren't interested in pancakes or waffles so they don't go. So let's address those concerns, yes, the line can be long at times. They have benches for you to sit outside or you can go down to their Sweet Serenity Cafe and get some coffee as you wait. And full disclosure, I got there about 9:15 for a proposed 10:00 brunch with eight people. They sat me down immediately after arriving. The only real line that we noticed was when we were leaving and even then it wasn't horrid. There are very few things in life that I will wait for LOL this is one of them! Then the pancake issue. They do not just offer pancakes and waffles. Although I must say they are beautiful. We look like a bunch of hungry ducks in a park as we twirled our head around and back and forth just following plates that went by asking "Oh what is that?" LOL but they also do omelets and other delicious options. Cold sandwiches. Salads. Hot sandwiches, yes try the Ruben. They even offer hamburgers. For the record, I haven't made it that far LOL but one day I'll meet that burger and it's gonna be sorry lol. If this place is not on your radar, your radar is broken. Looking forward to many more visits. I also signed up for their reminders so I find out when they're open for evenings and special holiday meals.
We found this place in a google search & soooo glad we did. They are open Fri-Sun only (wad told there is a coffee shop next door that is open in Thursdays as well) The people who works here are all survivors of recivery!!!! 👏👏👏 The suggested amount to pay is $15 /plate & anything beyond this is put together & shared between all. Our server, Amanda, was AMAZING!!! She suggested my husband's breakfast & she was absolutely correct in her choice. You definitely get enough food & the taste....WOW!!!Probably one of the BEST tasting food places we have had since moving to San Antonio last year. Great cause. Great food. Great PEOPLE!!! we will be back for sure. We did talk to other patrons & was told on Sundays, plan on waiting. FYI
We drove in from Houston to visit this cute non-profit restaurant for Thanksgiving with my sons and it was delicious (soup, deviled eggs, main turkey + sides, and the pies: pecan, apple, bread pudding chocolate were so good we forgot to take photos lol). The entire vibe was warm with friendly folks, loved the decorations, and our server Sarah was great! My oldest son loved all of his food!
This will go down as one of my favorite dining experiences in my life to date. From the moment we were greeted by a kind gentleman at the door, everything was amazing! The mission to support those in recovery is admirable and we were happy to help. Maya took care of us like we were family and I'll be thinking of her long into the future. The food - seemed like you can't make a bad choice on the menu. I tried the seasonal omelette with a yogurt parfait on the side. Absolutely incredible! Get the hash brown casserole for your potato choice. My husband enjoyed the Long Star breakfast with blueberry pancakes. All was fresh and flavorful! We left full, happy and feeling loved. Support this impactful restaurant and it's organization!
