Be careful of using this place--especially if they have any of your private data. I used them once for a deaf candidate, and then proceeded to get multiple invoices from them that were not ours. When I opened them, they were invoices intended for a probation department. On them had the full names, phone numbers, and birthdates of people who had to check in with their probation officer. Imagine if I knew of this person and just found out they were on probation due to this? Not to mention I have a pretty good start on stealing someone's identity. They have to use an interpreter, and this is how you treat them??? I brought it to the attention of Ana Rojo in accounting. She told me it wasn't a big deal, and no personal information got out. Well, I have full names, the probation department they have to report to, their cell phone number, and their date of birth--DOB is private info. If you care about your personal private data--DO NOT USE COMMUNICATION BY HAND. They couldn't care less about their users.

We have used their services for our company to help translate for deaf patients using ASL. We have patients that come in from out of town, 1-2 hour drives. Communication by Hand called us 45 minutes before our patients appointment to let us know that they do not have an interpreter scheduled and will not be able to provide one for us at all today. We scheduled an interpreter for this patients appointment a week in advance. For them to call us 45 minutes before a patients appointment and let us know this, is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. We will be going with a different company from now on. I would recommend if you are looking for interpreter services to look elsewhere as they are completely disorganized and will leave you high and dry.

I can’t say enough great things about Communication by Hand, LLC and their amazing team! Delia Merritt and her staff have consistently provided outstanding sign language interpretation services for us. They are incredibly professional, reliable, and always available—whether it's for scheduled sessions or last-minute requests. What really stands out is their commitment to going above and beyond. The interpreters take the initiative to request learning and curriculum materials so they can familiarize themselves with the specific terminology and verbiage for our technical programs. This extra effort has made a huge difference in the quality of their services, ensuring everything runs smoothly and effectively. I highly recommend Communication by Hand, LLC for anyone in need of sign language interpretation services. Their team is top-notch, and their attention to detail and dedication to their craft is unmatched. Truly an exceptional service!

They lacked in providing a back up interpreter when the primary interpreter backed out of a contract with the City of Austin and they couldn't provide remote interpretation for me for an important meeting that I chose to use Convo Communications on-demand virtual remote interpreting to save the day. This is not new, CBH doesn't follow through their contracts very well. I would recommend looking elsewhere for interpreting services!
