We were fortunate enough to book a private downtown la tour for 6 with delicious dish tours and it did not disappoint!!! Penelope was our guide and she was extremely friendly and knowledgeable throughout the entire tour. There was such a wide variety of foods that we enjoyed ranging from tacos on Olivera st to mochi in little Tokyo. They were so efficient with the walking and transportation from Chinatown to little Tokyo and it was really fun getting to take the metro there. There was a lot of history that Penelope shared with us about downtown and Los Angeles and as a Los Angeles native, I was quite embarrassed that I didn’t know a lot of it. You will definitely enjoy the tour and I cannot recommend it enough. The best part of the entire experience was that I never felt like I was at home in la. Oftentimes when I’m here with my family my thoughts drift to things I need to be doing at home or work but on the tour we all felt like we had 4 hours in a completely different place almost like we were on vacation. Thank you again delicious dish tours and we can’t wait to do it again!!
We booked a Delicious Dish LA Food tour for September, and had a lovely guide named Faith and a new guide shadowing her named Jose. Both were accommodating and helpful. We began at Union Station and were interrupted by a local who overheard us and wanted to correct Faith on who the original settlers of the area were. Faith took it all in stride and was gracious to this local, promising to do more research. We then toured Olvera Avenue, the original Hispanic settlement in LA, met a carver who showed us his work. We then proceeded to eat Mexican, tour more ethnic enclaves (Chinatown, Tokyo town) to eat BanMi, dumplings, candy (mochi squares from the oldest bakery in LA) and various other delicacies, all interesting. Our last stop was Central Market for South American treats and a Michelin mentioned taco on a blue corn tortilla with a melted cheese edge, ending the day with ice cream. Lots of food, make sure you skip breakfast and arrive hungry. The only negative was the Delicious Dish Tours was small and we had a hard time finding them, and the meeting place had 2 locations in Union Station, so we had to hunt around. Also, Faith was knowledgeable about the food but this tour was not one she usually gave so there were a couple of unanswered questions and a few wrong turns. I would recommend nonetheless.
I've lived in LA a long time, but have never really explored the Silverlake food scene. This was a great experience (a birthday present from my brother) and I would totally do it again! The tour guide Marco was great and very informative about the food and also the history of Silverlake. Would definitely recommend to any foodies or just lover of fun experiences!
I'm not usually the type to join a food tour, I've always pride myself on being able to find the best food around utilizing my own taste buds, but this was FUN! I learned all the amazing different cultures and histories of the modern tacos, and tasted each variation. We also had delicious Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine, it was a world tour of food. I really enjoyed the history of the Rainbow Stairs, as well as learning the foundation of the first movie studios here. It was educational and delicious. I did attended during the middle of the heat wave, so big floppy hats are highly encouraged!
I’ve taken many food tours but THIS was exceptionally amazing. The guide was so energetic, fun, and passionate. Funny too! Los Angeles is such a huge city, but I felt like this tour showcased all the hidden gems and historically important places. It was such a cool neighborhood too and I felt like at any moment, I could see a celebrity, lol. I got a lot of really cool pictures and of course, the food was divine. I was seriously impressed with how much we saw and learned on this tour. I will DEFINITELY book again. Thanks, Delicious Dish!
