I love the Dittmar rec center! Like the other rec centers, they have many free programs for all ages and there is a lot of variety. The staff are very friendly. The facility (the basketball court) and the bathrooms are clean. There is a small green area in the back for the kids to play in and to walk. I think there is a pool too but I’ve never used it. The parking lot is moderately sized. You’ll need to check the website for the monthly calendar. I wish there was a way to subscribe to it but it’s a PDF that gets uploaded. If you come here for pickleball, bring your own paddle and it’s even better if you bring your own ball. Everyone is very nice. The nets are broken but we make do because it’s free and just a way to get exercise and get to know people in the community. I come here for volleyball too. People tend to bring their own balls. If the City reads this, please make centralize the calendars of each rec center so that we don’t have to check each website individually and buy new and better quality pickleball nets!
Nice gym. My 4yr old grandson had a few basketball games here on Saturdays. Very Clean and kept at a nice cold temperature!
The ONLY place in south Austin where you can play basketball indoors for free! Not too many available times for open gym but we call before hand and go every chance we get. My 13 year old loves to practice and I'm not going to be outside in this 102 degree heat.
Summer Austin Rec Basketball Program @ Dittmar Rec. Our 5th grandson's 1st game here. This is a great summer family bonding sport. Many years coming to Dittmar for soccer, basketball, and lots of fun!!!
