We had a behavioral issue with our dog (Westie), who would bark excessively at any visitors in the house, and we struggled to control her. We decided to seek advice from Nigel, whose dog training approach seemed very interesting. Nigel provided training for our dog and explained in detail how to handle situations like this, helping her to return the responsibility for security back to us. His approach proved to be highly effective - not only did her behavior with visitors improve significantly, but issues such as fussiness with food, pulling on the lead, and constantly seeking attention also greatly diminished. We are extremely pleased with Nigel’s training and would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to improve their relationship with their dog in a thoughtful and effective way.

Nigel has been an incredible help with my two-year-old Golden Retriever. After just one week, I noticed real progress in my dog’s behaviour — less pulling, reduced aggression, and more confidence around other dogs. During our four-hour session, Nigel clearly explained his training methods and shared valuable tips to help me better understand and manage my dog both at home and outdoors. To reinforce everything we covered, he also provided several useful resources, including a copy of his book, detailed notes, flow charts, and videos. Overall, it was a very positive experience.

We can’t recommend Nigel highly enough. Buddy, our 3-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog, used to be a little anxious and had tendencies to react when on lead (jumping and barking), along with some other small things we wanted to work on with him. After working with Nigel, the change has been amazing. Nigel had a very calm and patient approach with both Buddy and us. He took the time to give us clear and practical advice, especially when it came to helping us understand how to grow Buddy’s confidence at home and outside. It’s been a really rewarding experience seeing Buddy progress within a month of us following Nigel’s advice. We immediately saw positive changes in Buddy’s behaviour and can see he is much calmer, more confident and better-behaved in general. Nigel truly has a gift with dogs (and owners!).

Nigel’s bespoke approach totally transformed the way we understand our dog and the easy to follow techniques have led to our dog being much calmer, more content and less anxious. Nigel is clearly an expert at what he does and gave us the tools and language to resolve the issues we were having and we saw almost instant results. Over the weeks the improvements continued and Nigel was there to support us through this process. I would highly recommend Nigel, he was brilliant and the positive impact on our dog has been game changing!

We recently called Nigel for help on a few specific problems we were having with our adolescent spaniel, Leo (barking at visitors, jumping up at people and chasing our cat). He responded quickly and was confident that he’d be able to help. Nigel set us some homework before our meeting (watching some of his training videos) so that we were well prepared and could make the most of our time with him. Nigel effectively addressed our specific needs; explaining why Leo was behaving the way he was and how we needed to conduct and break down training exercises in order to make them achievable for Leo. Nigel also took time to clearly explain the ideology behind being the dog’s guardian and the 4 key principles behind his training method. This was invaluable. It has aligned my husband’s and my approach to how we look after Leo and by having a greater understanding of Leo’s needs and motivations, we have become better owners. We are now more able to care for Leo, while setting our own boundaries. In less than a week Leo is walking so much better on a loose lead, just needing a little correction here and there. Similarly, his barking and jumping up have been reduced enormously as Leo has come to understand that we will take care of danger for him, while also clearly communicating to him how we expect him to behave. He is even slowly learning to be calmer around our cat! The key behind Nigel's method is not so much the training exercises but a shift in attitude in what it means to be a dog's guardian. By forming these new habits and behaving in this way consistently, I have no doubt that Leo will respond by becoming a happy, confident, well-behaved and calm dog. Nigel is passionate about dog training and is clearly very knowledgeable about the subject. He is patient, calm and kind with the owners as well as the dog. I would not hesitate to call on Nigel again should we need further help and would recommend him to any dog owners needing assistance.
