I was pleasantly surprised by Don Ya Sushi in Glasgow last night. From the very first bite, it was clear that the food was prepared with care and confidence, and every dish we tried was genuinely delicious. The real standouts were the salmon jalapeño and yellowtail jalapeño — beautifully balanced, fresh, and vibrant, with just the right touch of heat to enhance the fish rather than overpower it. The hand rolls were another highlight: crisp, fresh, and generously filled — simple, well-executed, and deeply satisfying. We also really enjoyed the sake selection, which complemented the food perfectly, and it was great to see Japanese beers included, such as Kirin, adding an authentic and thoughtful touch to the drinks menu. Overall, Don Ya Sushi exceeded expectations. It’s a place that quietly delivers excellent quality without fuss, and one I’d happily return to. A lovely surprise and a welcome addition to Glasgow’s sushi scene.

An unexpected wonderful find that I can't recommend enough. We were looking for somewhere to eat in Glasgow (that wasn't pizza and pasta) before going to the pantomime and we couldn't have done better. This is a superb little restaurant tucked away down a side street. The food was so fresh and tasty and we couldn't fault the service. It was quiet when we were there, but this was around 5pm. However I would recommend anyone looking for a really well done meal in an easy setting to go there. We will definitely be back.

Thoroughly brilliant meal last night at Don Ya. The only problem we had was that there was too much to choose from. Service was attentive. All the food we had was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it and will definitely be back in the future.
