As a bw I was elated to have a black woman stylist work on giving me a blowout only to be extremely disappointed. My roots were still puffy and damp as she proceeded to flat iron my hair while there was a burnt oily smell. The blow dry wasn’t complete and for some reason she skipped the extra deep conditioning that I added to my booking. I felt shaded when she casually disapproved of my slight heat damage when she towel dried my hair right after washing. Overall it didn’t look good and it was a bummer given that I just moved here from NYC. So I’m still figuring out where I can go to get a good blowout. I’ve had trust issues with people touching my hair and this amplified that distrust. Won’t be going back and figure it’s a sign to resist over paying for low quality service.
waiting 30 min even though i had booked an appt. associate barely shampooed my hair and i told him my hair specifically gets greasy in the back. he said “it was clean” (i hadn’t washed by hair in 3 days and had been to hot yoga that day so it was most definitely not clean). can feel the build up on my scalp after the blowout, and most specifically in the spot i asked him to wash :) i never write reviews but save your money and go elsewhere!
Quick service nicely done! We went there before a wedding after making an appointment few days before. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Affordable yet good service. My hair lasted two days long.
I had an appointment here on Oct 20th and sadly it was the worst blow dry of my life. From the initial wash where I got absolutely soaked to the blow dry itself, I am certain the lady doing my hair has never been trained on the basics of a wash and blow dry. The whole appointment took 2hrs!!!!! When I asked for a Mai Tai style which has been a Drybar staple for years, she had to grab the look book to see which one it was. Her technique was that of someone who’s never done a blow out before, I was in disbelief but persisted as she was actually a lovely person. But I genuinely thought I was being punked, that’s how bad it was. I get weekly blowouts in my hometown that take 30-40 mins max so I was shocked this took so long. I used to come here pre covid every time I was in town and always had an amazing experience, sad how downhill this salon has gone. The receptionist seemed to hate being there too and just sat on her phone scrolling and looking miserable the whole time, not a good look.
I am amazed at the team DryBar Union Square has assembled for this new/re-opened location! From the moment you walk in the staff are all attentive and welcoming. SERGEI did my hair during the “soft opening” and I am absolutely AMAZED. I have never loved a style on my hair so much and I got so many compliments. Sergei was friendly, fun, and (most importantly to me) thorough and thoughtful in asking me about my hair, for any concerns or texture comments I had, as well as about the products he was using as he used them. He also really knew WHICH products to use and recommend for my specific hair type and concerns. I will 100% be returning to this location (and Sergei!!) and am so excited to start up a Barfly here. Thank you DryBar Union Square team for being so awesome!!
