Wonderful experience. Did the old masters course. All I hoped for and more from a painting course. Lea and Ewan are lovely people and good teachers. They have cultivated a lovely environment.

I recently completed the 7 day master copy course, creating your own copy of a painting. I feel SO lucky to have come across this course. I really loved it and learned the process of painting in this style through each layer of the painting alongside learning colour theory, brushwork, different types of pallets and more. Essentially the course was tailored to my needs with one to one instruction. My tutor Lea was knowledgeable, responsive, patient and experienced. Apart from all that it was a great space to spend time, in a proper studio environment with friendly and open people all really passionate about painting and drawing. I hope to come back again and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn this style of painting.

One of the most worthwhile, rewarding and beautiful experiences I've been a part of 💖 I recently took part in the Old Masters course and I can only speak very highly of every artist at the atelier (the instructors as well as the other students that I had the pleasure to meet). This was my first time ever taking painting lessons of any kind, and I was quite unsure of what to expect, but I was thrilled to encounter such a positive space for learning. The professors, Lea and Ewan, are incredibly talented and accomplished artists, and I loved getting to paint with help from both of them and getting a sense of their perspectives on art. I learned so many valuable things, from painting techniques to insights on the business of art, and I will be using all of that knowledge and inspiration moving forward. Everyone at the atelier was very candid and friendly, and it's definitely an environment that welcomes both experienced artists as well as beginners. The instruction I received was very detailed, all of my questions were always answered with patience and care, and I loved being around other artists who are passionate about what they do. So, if you've ever wanted to take your first steps in art or if you're an artist seeking to improve your craft, I simply can't recommend this place enough. I gained a lot from my visit, both as an artist and as a person, and I look forward to hopefully coming back to this treasure of a place in the future, and continuing to improve ♡ I'll include a picture of the piece I did during the course (my first ever oil painting– so believe me, you can get a lot done in 7 days!)

I enroled on a 5-day, classical drawing short course and couldn't be happier with the experience. I hadn't picked up a pencil in decades and was a bit nervous about going to such a prestigious place without having any experience or knowledge of how to draw properly. I was made to feel at ease immediately by Lea and Ewan and was given lots of individual tuition and attention. There are students of all levels at Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art and the atmosphere is one of encouragement and progress. Lots of past students' artwork hangs on the walls and it is fantastic to see what can be accomplished when taught properly - whether you are a total beginner or a working artist. I was amazed at my progress after 5 days. I was able to take home a drawing that I would not have thought I was capable of - even though I know I am still at the very beginning of my artistic journey . I will be going back for another course very soon and highly recommend the Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art to anyone who wants to learn how to draw or paint. Great value and a great experience. If you are thinking about going - just do it!

Wow! I've just finished a week course at Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art and I just can't do it justice in an online review. Lea is an incredible teacher and a beautiful person. I almost finished only my third ever painting in a week of deeply engaging learning surrounded by incredibly talented students - but far from feeling a fraud among such skilled company, everyone was encouraging and supportive. Having never studied art or been on a course before, I wasn't sure what to expect... but whatever my expectations they were surely exceeded. I have come away feeling empowered and capable of producing better art than I ever felt was within me. Thank you to everyone - you're amazing. I will return!
