I was out of state and my significant other said my cat didnt look well and had to take him into the ER. Over the phone they asked me to put "$800 down" in case they needed it for tests. I asked them to complete the exam and give me the recommended tests first. I'm in health care and typically you assess a patient on their signs and symptoms and make appropriate medical recommendations.. so this protocol/business model didn't sit well with me. Vet came out and said "it could be anything, broken jaw, mass in the mouth, hit by a car" and I need to run tests for $1800 (plus $165 exam fee). Apparently my significant other said she was cold. Ended up taking my cat home and to my vet when they opened back up. They wanted to run a blood panel to see if it showed signs of a "mass". However is this an emergency or something my vet can run? Mind you he just had his routine visit 3 weeks ago and was WNL (within normal limits). They said they are private but it may be private equity owned or partially owned by a management company that "just manages the practice and keep Dr. autonomy". However this doesn't always work this way and changes the dynamic/priorities of family practice. Anyways would not bring my pet back here unless it looked like they had hours or less to live or trauma.
The amazing doctors, surgeons, and techs at Epic saved Honeybee’s life. She will live a long happy life thanks to the emergency blood transfusions and splenectomy she received here. Staff were very kind and attentive. They tried to order only what was necessary for Honeybee to reduce costs. That didn’t work out due to her condition but I appreciate that they tried! She had to stay two nights and they called me frequently with updates on how she was doing and someone was always available when I called with questions. I’m very glad I brought her to this emergency vet.
Wonderful experience, my pup (Abbey) had to have major surgery and Dr. Curry and his staff were exceptional. All the other internist we have seen since have also been wonderful. The vet tech’s and reception were great. Everyone is extremely compassionate and I truly believe they have my girl’s best interests at heart. We have returned twice and will always choose Epic as our first choice for specialty vet services.
Yesterday we visited the EPIC location in Tampa for the first time. We needed a stat ultrasound for our kitty Bubbeefoos who had been hospitalized with our regular vet for a urinary blockage. The team was able to fit us in pretty close to a moments notice. I must say the folks at EPIC have customer care and focus in mind the minute you walk through their front door. They don’t just treat you like a number and steal your beloved pet away to a back room. They make sure to take the time to make you feel like you’re the most important case of the day. Me and Bubbee were greeted with very friendly and competent front staff. Our wait time to go to our room was very short, with our tech coming in quickly. Bianca was great! On this visit we saw internal medicines Dr Meeks. We absolutely loved her! Bubbee’s ultrasound was done within 30 minutes, with much time given for findings discussion and options for treatment. Dr Meeks was on the phone with our regular vet as we were leaving. That level of team approach will prove to be invaluable in Bubbee’s continued treatment. Our vet was fully prepped and ready when we returned for his continued hospitalization. Thank you EPIC TEAM! We’re sure to be back. And we highly recommend your hospital to anyone needing your emergency and specialty services ❤️
EPIC is a wonderful veterinarian-owned specialty practice and ER. I highly recommend it. I’ve been taking my dog to their oncology department since early Summer and I couldn’t be happier with the Oncology Team helping Luna and I deal with her multi centric lymphoma. They are absolutely amazing and just last week, I needed to take our kitty to the ER. He had an infected anal gland and once again I was extremely happy with the services provided. The ER vet was caring and knowledgeable and did a fantastic job helping Lupo feel better. He is not an easy patient so a vet who is not just knowledgeable but also kind is a total plus. The entire team at EPIC is wonderful. Very grateful to have this clinic so close to our home in downtown St Pete.
