I had a consultation with Melissa a few days ago and I couldn’t be happier. The minute I walked in the salon, I knew I was in the right place. Melissa was very easy to talk to and very professional. her communication was impeccable! She answered all my questions, and there were many of them (I have no experience with extensions, and i don’t know anything about it). She was very patient with me and explained everything in details during the appointment and via texts. My goal was to find out if extensions were the option for my bleached hair, if it will look natural, and if it could be done with minimal damage to my already suffered enough hair. The answer was YES! YES! YES! Thank you, Melissa, so much for making me comfortable with my decision and answering all my ‘stupid’ questions!
My first encounter with Melissa was in 2015 following a botched haircut. Having worn hair extensions off and on since the early 2000's, I was new to the San Antonio area and desperate to find an experienced extensionist. What I found was a perfectionist, stylist, master color artist, and expert extensionst ALL-IN-ONE. The color techniques she implements leave your hair perfect for long lasting grow out color. She creates each micro bond by blending 4-6 different colors with 8-12 strands of hair - BY HAND. Her quotes do not include a specific number of bonds - she sections your hair into TINY sections throughout your head and applies HOW EVER MANY BONDS IT TAKES to cover your head. With proper care - a set of her extensions has lasted me 9 months!!! The best part - NO ONE has ever known I was wearing extensions!!! Do yourself a favor and come see the most passionate and dedicated extensionist I have ever met!! She has kept me coming back for 10 years!!!
Melissa is the best of the best and the best in San Antonio by far! You will not be disappointed. She takes the time out of her day to make sure that me (the client) is taken care of at all hours of the day/night! I have been going to Extensions of Yourself/Melissa for three years in counting and I have NEVER been disappointed. She goes above and beyond for her clients! I have very thin hair and I cannot begin to describe how great I feel about my hair because of Melissa! She took the time to understand my struggle and my hair type from day one! The best part is that nobody knows I have extensions. They look so natural and are blended to perfectly match my hair nobody has a clue. Melissa gave me my confidence back. I scheduled a consultation with her a year ago to discuss getting hair extensions after experiencing hair loss due to stress and health issues. She was so patient, kind, and informative about the entire process of getting the extensions, how they’re sourced, how she applies them, etc. no detail was left out and I felt very confident that she could help me restore some volume and length in my thinned our hair. HOT D*MN did she deliver!!! You will not find better, more natural results. My extensions looked like my own natural hair but 10x more glamorous. You can’t put a price on the confidence she gave back to me. She is so passionate about her craft and it reflects her work. I’m already on my second set of beautiful extensions and I still couldn’t be happier. My advice to anyone that plans on using Melissa for extensions is to ACTUALLY READ HER WEBSITE! She explains the extensions/services she does and what to expect (cost, maintenance, longevity of the hair, etc.) It is a lot of information because her craft is like no other, it is literally art, so there is a lot of information! Ever since I got my first set of extensions last April my natural hair has grown inches, I have so much new growth, and I get endless compliments on my hair and the confidence they gave me. I cannot recommend or brag about Melissa enough. She is extremely busy because she focuses 100% of her attention of her clients she has that day. She is never distracted or on her phone whenever she works on my hair. I’ve never had an experience like that! Scheduling may be a little tricky due to this, but she always ALWAYS gets back to me whenever she is done with her client. I would never trust anyone with my hair/ hair extension needs ever again.
The passion that Melissa shows for the "magic" she performs with hair extensions is incredible. I've had extensions installed by Melissa and can say it is a transforming experience. As someone with very thin hair, I've always had difficulty wearing a variety of styles or curling my hair. And, my hair had unexpectedly thinned. Melissa artfully applied extensions that instantly created volume and length, filling in my thinned areas and giving me the boost of confidence I needed after having lost so much hair so quickly. Melissa is extremely knowledgeable and very thorough in explaining your hair's condition, options in hair extension types and what is BEST for you. She even showed me the difference between hair I could pick up myself vs the quality hair she uses from the top hair extension suppliers. To feel and see the difference showed me she doesn't take shortcuts. She wants her clients to love the experience and the hair. I love the time she spends and the obvious love she has for what she does. It's so refreshing! The fact that hair extensions is all she does says so much. And she doesn't use cheap hair that falls apart or melts when you style it (I've seen that happen). She doesn't use methods that harm your hair even after years of wearing hair extensions because of the methods she's developed for women with thinning hair. The bonds she used on my fine hair were so tiny and smooth that I didn't have trouble brushing or caring for my hair and they lasted a long time looking fresh and smooth. I loved not having to fuss with them every day. I just don't have time for that. And I didn't want to feel like I was wearing a helmet either! The ones I got felt like my own hair...Just more of it! My experience with extensions with Melissa has been excellent and I will refer others to her without hesitation. Her salon recently moved just down the street into a beautifully decorated space that is so thoughtfully created to give us, her clients, the BEST experience possible. Inviting, warm, friendly, private, personalized, relaxing, educating, transforming are all words I would use to describe the experience you'll have with Melissa at Extensions of Yourself. I'd give more than five stars if it was an option!
