The property itself is quite impressive. It is in the perfect location. Everything was easy to walk to. The staff is excellent. We enjoyed the restaurants very much. My biggest complaint is the whole property needs a renovation. The pool and fitness room are filthy. The fitness room had rotted apples in the fridge. For the price of the hotel rooms, this area should be pristine. It's as bad as a local YMCA. The bathroom in our Jr Suite was tiny. The suite itself was large. I honestly cannot figure out why they didn't put a second 1/2 bath in the suite. There's a very large blank space in it that is so odd. I want to love this property because of the history and because the staff is so lovely, but it needs a whole lot of work.
Overall a great stay. It is a beautiful building with lots of history and well decorated. We did the complimentary beer tasting which was very good. We could not get on the wine tasting or historical tour so it's best to book ahead but space appears very limited. The room was decent with a comfy bed but has some areas for upgrade. The pool and hot tub were very busy in the evening. I did not care for the up sale at check in, it's a bit tacky for a fine hotel. The location is superb.
It was a perfect stay and the best birthday ever! Beds were comfortable and it was quiet despite so many people staying at the hotel. Housekeeping was incredible. They came during the day to do linens and such. Then, again late afternoon/early evening to turn the bedsheets down. The slippers were greatly appreciated. Although we didn’t take advantage of the pool, hot tub or sauna, many people did and told us they really enjoyed it. The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We will definitely visit again.
Absolutely stunning hotel coupled with wonderful staff on all levels. Everyone we interacted with were exceptionally friendly, from the restaurant/bar staff, bell hops, front desk, house keeping, concierge and vendors. The location is pretty much unbeatable if you want to explore Old Quebec. Our room was clean and offered an amazing view of the river and toboggan. Breakfast was fantastic, as were the food and drink from the various restaurants and bars. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will most definitely be back.
We have been to Quebec City many times as we live close by but this was our first stay at Chateau Frontenac. Every single touch point we had with the hotel or staff was excellent. We arrived before check-in at 12pm, not only was our room ready but they had a proposed upgrade available. We gladly accepted! The deluxe room was incredible, large with a big comfortable bed, a chaise lounge by the window so we could watch the snow fall and an absolutely massive bathroom with a gorgeous bathtub. There was plenty of hot water and good water pressure, even after a bath. Water, tea and coffee were all provided. We even received an extra little treat (premium water and little chocolates) since we were celebrating our anniversary. We needed a couple of extras (like extra tea bags and soap) and the staff delivered them so quickly. We were offered turn down service, but we were already in bed! So next time we will have to see what that is like. A huge thank you to everyone who made our stay so special. We will certainly be back!
