I booked two massages and upgraded to the Nordic spa experience ($40) on November 5th for my boyfriend’s 30th birthday. It was meant to be a special, relaxing day, but it ended up being a huge disappointment. About two hours before our appointment, we received a call saying Deck 6 (where the pool and Nordic spa experience are) was closed due to high winds. There really wasn’t any wind that day, but we took their word for it. Since that’s half of the facilities we had paid to use, we asked if we could reschedule for another day, but the receptionist said Deck 5 was still open with lounge chairs, a mineral pool, and a hot tub, and that they would give us a complimentary Nordic spa pass for another day as compensation. We agreed and decided to go. When we arrived, Deck 5 was technically “open,” but nothing was actually set up. There were no seat cushions, the fire pits were covered, and there were no staff around to take food or drink orders. The mineral pool and hot tub had bugs floating in them and looked poorly maintained. The facility itself feels old and worn down. not what you’d expect for the $567 we paid. We both booked the Stress Relief massage with firm pressure, but the massages were extremely light. it honestly just felt like they were grazing our backs. We each asked for firmer pressure, which lasted maybe two minutes before returning to the same light touch. It was disappointing and didn’t feel like a professional treatment. To make matters worse, we later found out from a Fairmont resident that Deck 6 was actually open and that they were just there, despite what we were told. It’s hard not to feel like we were misled, possibly because they were short-staffed and didn't have anyone to monitor the nordic spa. On top of that, the men’s steam room has apparently been broken for months, a feature that’s supposed to be included in the price but still isn’t available. We ended up leaving early. Before I left, I went to the front desk to confirm that the complimentary Nordic spa pass was added to my account, but the receptionist looked confused and said there was no record of it. She said she would “look into it,” but after the experience we had, I’m not confident anything will be done. Overall, we paid full price for what felt like half the facilities being available, and the quality didn’t come close to matching the premium prices. What was supposed to be a relaxing birthday celebration turned into a frustrating and disappointing day. I wouldn’t recommend this spa unless major improvements are made.
First time visiting this spa to celebrate my wedding anniversary (alone), and it was such a great experience! From the reception to the cleaning staff, everyone was friendly and welcoming. I had an RMT massage with Naomi, and, it was honestly the best massage I’ve ever had! I saw some negative reviews here, but my experience was nothing like that. I arrived a bit early and enjoyed the hot tub and steam sauna before my treatment. The weather was perfect, and since it was a weekday, it was quiet and peaceful. I even had the hot tub all to myself for a while. I’ll definitely be back before the summer is gone.
Always a fabulous time here! Great amenities especially in the women’s area. They have a separate private lounge for women in addition to the co-ed lounge areas. Plenty of nooks to hang around with your friends. Love the private cabanas. You can order food to arrive before or after your spa treatment. Overall, expect to stay a couple hours to get the full relaxing experience. I usually spend about 4ish hours here with a 90 minute treatment. This would include time before and after treatment to use the amenities and to shower and freshen up.
What an amazing spa! The minute we walked we were greeted by Jackie who went an above and beyond to make our experience so memorable and positive for my friend’s mini local bachelorette! She took photos of us in a private area away from guests so that other guests were not disturbed and showed us so much kindness in our time with her! Highly recommend this spa ❤️
I really enjoyed my experience at Nordic Spa and Willow Spa at Fairmont Pacific Rim. I did minus 1 star is because I wish there are more steam rooms at spa. We could use 90min at the Nordic Spa which was upper floor and then we had another 90min to use at the spa on the 5th floor for a total of 3 hours. The Nordic Spa has an outdoor pool and dry sauna, with cold dips. I thought 3 hours are enough to stay but needed more!!! But I will come back.
