Dr. Fox saved my dog’s life. She expertly diagnosed a life threatening condition as soon as we entered the hospital in the middle of the night, and initiated critical care. Although under immense pressure due to the need for immediate surgery, Dr. Fox exhibited the perfect blend of compassion and communication of technical knowledge to help me make a decision. Post-op she kept me updated daily and addressed any concerns. I am so thankful that First Coast Veterinary is in Jax Beach and that Dr. Fox is part of the team.
When our cat, Woody, had some recovery complications after a procedure, the stress caused him to develop a urinary blockage and we needed an emergency vet. We were not expecting to have our cat go in and out of a vet hospital the week of Christmas, but that’s what happened. The staff at First Coast Vet Specialists helped Woody pass multiple blockages over the course of a few days. Unfortunately, because of the recurring issue, the doctors recommended he undergo emergency PU surgery (perineal urethrostomy). The surgery went well and he’s now home recovering and comfortable. Overall, choosing this animal hospital was the best choice we could have made, because everything was so efficient and clearly communicated, and we were put at ease by the professional staff. Since we were back and forth to the hospital for about a week, we were able to observe a lot and were so pleased to see so many other people with their pets also receiving excellent care and attention from each staff member. Even with a fully-packed hospital lobby on Christmas Eve, the team was so warm and friendly. They really did their absolute best to accommodate everyone. I specifically want to express sincere appreciation for Dr. Wilson, Dr. Dow, and Dr. Eich, Manager Logan, and technicians Courtney and Caitlyn, as they spent lots of time treating and caring for Woody over the course of the week and communicating with us on his progress. Thank you all so much. Costs for services were certainly within a reasonable range and we feel we received excellent and transparent care. We highly recommend this ER vet group and would not hesitate to bring our pets here for any needs in the future.
This is the best place ever they saved my carrot. He got stuck on a pole and they saved him. I really am grateful for them.🥹🥰 this is the best animal hospital in Jacksonville very clean and classy. The staff are very sweet and I just want you to know that I appreciate every last one of you from the bottom of my heart he is knocked out on mommy’s lap I have a very traumatized what happened to my cat and I really am. I will recommend this hospital to anyone in Jacksonville, Florida. If you google them and see them please do not hesitate to choose them. Thank you you guys hi, I have an update today. 12/19 I went back and I got carrots. Draining tooth removed prior to that when he got discharged, the vet tech gave me his medicine and then told me she was gonna be putting me a syringe for his pain meds. The other ones were already filled. I had five of them in the blue jar and on the other one I just had a liquid bottle well however, I called the vet that night and I spoke with logan the manager, and I was upset and so forth and letting her know that there was not a syringe in there so we decided that we were gonna use the other pre-filled tube and put his other pain medication and I apologize and I let her know that I was overwhelmed. I had three more cats at home as well.in it however when I return today, a girl named Zoey argued with me and was very condescending about the vet. Technician giving me an syringe for the liquid medication which she did not she was arguing with me back-and-forth saying yes she did give you to. Yes she did and I replied no, she did not. She was very rude. It’s like she had a problem with me from the minute. She approached me because she had a problem with me saying her coworker did not give me a syringe she was very snarky with me and she told me well. I have to pay for it. I said well OK and then she was saying something else and I’ll let her know she was confusing me. and I also let her know that I will be contacting the manager because she is very condescending and I told her that in a respectful way however I will be calling and speak to a manager. Everybody else was so nice. Zoey was very confusing on purpose and I have witnesses. Unacceptable her energy and vibrations were terrible. Everybody else was very nice and very understanding. She had no bedside manners or anything working at a vet ER.
On 10/13/25 I made the hardest decision of my life…we called First Coast around 4:30 in the morning for euthanasia my five year old cat Nami. She had received a terminal cancer diagnosis elsewhere just 3 days prior, and had declined significantly in that time. First Coast Vets was so amazing and kind when taking care of my sweet girl. Everyone we interacted with was so compassionate and understood the depth of the pain we were feeling. We received a kind letter in the mail afterwards signed by the whole staff wishing us condolences. Thank you first coast vets for taking away Nami’s pain, and allowing her to pass peacefully with dignity, I will never forget your kind words and actions. Thank you for helping my baby when I couldn’t anymore ❤️
I am in tears writing this. I can’t say enough great things about ALL the staff at the hospital. My pup is still admitted there for care. We had to go in once and then back again the next day. Even though staff had turned over they were each so wonderful. The second day I was a sobbing mess and I always felt held and cared for just like my sweet pup. The explained things extra thoroughly, took time with me even when they were extra busy, called me with updates, welcomed my calls for updates and even sent me a picture. It has been a very hard few days and the staff here is well aware of how difficult it can be to have a sick and, possibly, dying pet. Yes, the wait was quite long the first day. I would and will do it again in a heart beat because they are so wonderful. A few years ago this hospital saw my golden retriever who was feeling unwell. They took tests and referred us urgently to oncology where we found out our dear pup had stomach cancer. The way the hospital wrote the notes got us into the oncologist faster, a diagnosis, and we were able to support our pup to pass into having no more painful days quickly. Have no doubts about this hospital. They are all one beautiful souls and it’s a one of a kind place.
