Vibes were good, food and drinks were ok. My drink, the Black is Beautiful Old Fashioned was unexpectedly very smoky, which I hadn’t realized when ordering it. I was unable to finish it, and it was $18. The artichoke dip was mediocre and not very hot. The fried chicken was solid, pretty tasty and crispy. The highlights of the plate were the red rice and beans and the biscuit. Overall not bad, service was good, just a little underwhelming for the price, but understandable due to the location.
Came on New Years Day with a reservation at 5:15 for 3. Would definitely recommend making reservations on nights and weekends as it is normally full. Need to try more options things on the menu before a 5 star for food but so far its really good. Mac&cheese, potato salad and collard greens are all good. The yams are amazing, tastes like they should be a dessert. Deviled eggs are good just wish it was a little more. Service a little bit slower but I think its because of how full it gets. Wish they would validate parking but its L.A live so kind of expected.
The restaurant was nice and felt warm due to the ambiance and the great customer service from the staff. We were seated immediately on the patio, under a heater; because it was chilly. We were able to people watch on a beautiful Sunday morning. The music was great! And the food was even better. We had the gumbo that came with some really good cornbread that tasted like cake. The serving was so large I had to pack the remainder to go. The chicken and waffles were very good. The waffle was soft and not over cooked. The Mac and cheese was delicious also. Parking was right across the street. Great experience overall.
My family and I visited here on a Sunday while in LA for a game. Everything we ordered was delicious, no complaints at all. The service was friendly and music was a vibe. I'd recommend a reservation, it got packed as we were eating which was about time church let out. We will definitely be visiting again.
Fixins Soul Food absolutely blew me and my fiancée away! The service was phenomenal—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every dish was incredibly flavorful with generous portions that make you feel truly taken care of. The cocktails were delicious and perfectly crafted, and the location itself is vibrant and inviting. What makes Fixins even more special is its mission. You can feel the pride in honoring Black culture, history, and family in everything they do—from the menu to the atmosphere. It’s more than just a meal; it’s an experience that celebrates community. Highly recommend. I can’t wait to come back!
