Jono was our Wedding DJ and he made our Wedding the most beautiful and flawless night! 🤩 We loved his lights and sound and we can't sing his praises enough. There was non-stop dancing and it was amazing. Thank you so much for everything, it was the best night of our life!!

We hired Jono from Friendly DJs and Trivia as both MC and DJ for our wedding based on the reviews, and it turned out to be an absolute disaster - one that others should be warned of. Prior to the wedding, we meticulously completed the spreadsheet Jono provided, detailing timelines, activities, and even scripts. We also went through everything with him during two separate planning sessions. Despite this preparation, on the day itself Jono appeared completely lost in his own spreadsheet. He missed numerous critical moments, mixed up the timeline, and created countless awkward situations for us and our guests. There were so many serious errors that it’s impossible to list them all. We’ll highlight some of the key moments that we will never get back. After we walked down the aisle, Jono was to instantly play an important cultural song that would cue our guests to come around us and celebrate the moment. The song was never played. We and our guests stood there in prolonged, awkward silence. This was no minor oversight — we specifically emphasized this moment in both planning meetings and again over a phone call on the morning of the wedding. Our photographer eventually stepped in to organize the group photo, which was also supposed to be managed by Jono. We progressed through the photo sessions of which Jono remained focused on his equipment, occasionally looking up, trying to figure out where we were in the schedule instead of being IN CONTROL of the schedule as an MC. Jono was also meant to organize guests in the outdoor area for our cultural games and tea ceremony, but by the time he figured it out, his announcement was far too late. He completely lost control of the crowd — the majority of guests had already moved indoors, and the witnesses we wanted for the tea ceremony were not present. From very early on, it was clear that he had dropped the ball. It became so bad that out of desperation, we had to share the spreadsheet with family and friends with hopes they can help prompt Jono on what he was supposed to do. Several guests approached us and openly questioned whether Jono was drunk, stoned, or doing the job for the first time. Throughout the night, the music was poorly handled. Transitions between songs were choppy, with obvious gaps that were distracting and completely killed the vibe. In the middle of dinner, Jono was at our bridal table and to uttered, “None of this is my fault.” He took no responsibility whatsoever. This behaviour was extremely unprofessional and occurred at an entirely inappropriate time. A relative had provided Jono with gifts to be given to guests during the games as per discussed during the planning meetings, to which he said, “I know what to do with this.” However, when it came time to give out the gifts, he repeatedly asked us where the gifts were, creating yet more awkward moments for us. The gifts were never given out, and it appears he kept them himself. Jono was required to arrive two hours early for setup, yet he arrived over 30 minutes late. Due to the compressed timeline, he had no time to do a proper soundcheck with our violinist and failed to receive mandatory safety announcement required by the venue, forcing the venue to interrupt abruptly and prompt him to announce it. We are thankful we hired a violinist. If we had relied on Jono, we are convinced we would have walked down the aisle to no music at all, or the wrong music played at the wrong time. We should not have dismissed early warning signs during planning stages: the spreadsheet was given just five weeks out when we had paid the deposit 5 months prior, the playlist access had to be chased up, and he was late to meetings. Our wedding would have been perfect if not for Jono’s incompetence. Our other vendors delivered exactly as agreed — some even going above and beyond to compensate for Jono’s failure to execute his role. Jono may come across as convincing at first, but in our experience, it was all talk and a complete failure to deliver.

I hired Jono DJ my birthday, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for better. From start to finish he was exceptional & he communicated clearly, checked in about everything, and genuinely did everything possible to make my night perfect. Everyone loved him, and even my mum adored him, which says a lot! He went above and beyond in every way to make sure my birthday was the way I wanted and the whole night was just spectacular because of him. I’d recommend Jono to absolutely anyone. If you want someone reliable and genuinely invested in making your event amazing, he’s the one. I had such a great night, thank you so much, Jono!
