JFK Assassination & Museum Tour with Lee Harvey Oswald Rooming House Guide: Dan (Historian) This tour wasn’t entertainment — it was an education. What made it extraordinary was Dan’s insight, deep knowledge, and the genuine excitement he showed whenever someone in the group added their own small piece to the story. His passion isn’t performative; it’s the excitement of someone who has spent a lifetime studying this moment in history and can’t wait to share what he knows. What surprised me most was learning how deeply Oswald was influenced by the Rosenbergs — the couple executed in the 1950s for passing atomic secrets to the Soviet Union. Dan explained how Oswald viewed individuals like the Rosenbergs as heroes, read Mein Kampf at age 15, and shaped his early worldview around figures of that ideological ilk. Combined with the character-building Dan walked us through to understand Oswald’s mental state, upbringing, and family history, it gave me a depth I had never been exposed to. These aren’t simplistic summaries you get from documentaries. These are layers of context that change how you see the man at the center of it all. Walking into Oswald’s rooming house felt like stepping back in time. His tiny room carried an uneasy stillness, and the artifacts from the era — including something as simple as the ashtrays — made it feel incredibly real. It’s unsettling in the way true history often is. The tour itself is a mix of historical investigation, storytelling, and forensic breakdown. Dan can shift between all three with ease. At any moment, facts and side stories can come crashing through the narrative with the excitement of a child showing you their brand-new birthday or Christmas present. Balanced, passionate, deeply factual, interactive — Dan is a consummate storyteller. And fate added something I will never forget. Without any planning, we arrived on 11/14/2025 at the exact moment the City of Dallas was holding a ceremony honoring Officer J.D. Tippit by mounting a new street marker in his memory. Officers and community members were gathered for the dedication, and although we weren’t part of the ceremony itself, arriving at that moment added a powerful weight to the experience. It made the history feel close, relevant, and very real. Seeing Dan’s reaction — the reverence and genuine excitement in his expression — made the moment even more meaningful. You could tell he understood what an unexpected honor it was for all of us to arrive at that exact time. Given his years of study and experience with the JFK assassination, it was clear he recognized how rare and special it was to witness a moment connected so closely to the story he teaches. Here is why I believe someone should take this tour: Dan loves facts. With the countless conspiracies surrounding this tragedy, he doesn’t show up to sway your beliefs or push a narrative. He simply gives you the documented history — including what the media has not always told — and paints a timeline so clear and detailed that it leaves far less room for conjecture. I felt like a grateful and eager student, and I highly recommend asking for Dan if you want facts instead of fluff.
I did the JFK Assassination tour with Tim, our tour guide. I booked on the same morning because our work schedule suddenly allowed it. The tour was great. More than I expected and very insightful. Tim has a good balanced view and professional style in sharing the evidence. Well done. The museum was closed/ is closed on Mondays and we were quite happy with just the tour. Plenty of opportunity to get in and out, and to ask questions along the way. I feel thoroughly informed. My only comment is that I couldn’t tell where to meet or what to expect regarding meeting the tour, before I paid. This may be an American thing, but as it was my first day in Texas and I wasn’t sure how I was going to get around, I would have appreciated knowing that detail before paying and committing. But all in all it was a great tour and I highly recommend it.
I can't even tell you how much we enjoyed this tour. We did the combo Dallas / JFK tour with Preston and both the tour and Preston were AWESOME !!!!!!!! My wife and I have taken tours all over and the communication that I got up to, that morning, and all the way through the tour was great. Preston is respectful about staying on time and wants to make sure that you understand the material. He is very open to questions and you can tell is not just reading a script. The transportation was great, the vans were clean and the value of the tour was tremendous. The JFK tour was the best part Preston was so knowledgeable on the subject. He debunked some myths, gave some hard-core statistics and data, and then left a couple of questions open-ended for you to make your own discoveries like a great teacher will! I would come back and take this tour again just because there was so much info I didn't get it all, but I will ask for Preston and so should you if you are looking at this tour!!!!
