I joined Thursday night oils with Kelly in April 2024. I started the classes mostly as a way to get out of the house and to force myself to paint more. 1.5 years later and I have made great friends and progress in my art. Kelly has a great collaborative way of teaching and will happily help you out of your comfort zone, but will also support you if you want to stick with what you like.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Galleria Art Studio is such a special place I joined a year ago to learn watercolours with zero experience, and I’ve now attended three different class times — each with its own lovely group and vibe. Every class has been incredibly welcoming and encouraging, with a real community feel. Torsten is an amazing teacher — full of experience, stories, and a depth of art knowledge that goes far beyond just technique. He has a wonderful way of pushing you out of your comfort zone and helping you see what you’re capable of. I’ve learned so much and I’m genuinely proud of my progress in just a year. As a FIFO worker, I could only attend classes every second week, and the studio was so accommodating — I always felt welcome and included, never behind or left out. One of my favourite parts is seeing how everyone develops their own style — and at the end of class, we all gather for a short chat where students share what they’ve created. It’s inspiring and a great way to learn from each other. You’re given a recommended materials list, but you can easily start with a basic Kmart palette and build up as you go — there’s no pressure, just pure encouragement to enjoy creating. Honestly, I want everyone to experience this place… but I also kind of want to keep it my secret because I love it so much!
I have had many years of learning and developing skills in drawing and watercolour. There is always a happy vibe in all the groups I have been in which has provided a great atmosphere for the excellent teachers to share their knowledge and encouragement.
I have attended the Thursday Drawing Class for 2 years. The best decision I have ever made. This is an amazing class and David Jay Reed is the best teacher. I have never progressed so much. His encouragement and just knowing what I need to do to correct anything that is not looking quite right is brilliant. Highly recommend this class. Sue White
My two boys had studied for 2-3 terms, they are improving their skills very fast to show how talented teachers are. Highly recommended.
