I contacted General Contractor Los Angeles for a remodel project in Los Angeles and was referred to someone named Alex, who sent a superintendent to visit the property. After going back and forth with Alex for 2 weeks to finally receive an estimate (with a few delays and being told that it takes time to make an estimate, they are receiving quotes in house, etc.), I was provided with what seemed like more of a power point presentation with an overall estimate (not itemized at all). This “estimate” was an “Interior Budget” of $372,500 which excluded “doors, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, woodwork, countertops, shelving, kitchen cabinets, tiles, toilets, vanities, HVAC, sprinklers, architectural, engineering & permits” Since this was an interior budget, I am assuming it also excluded any exterior work. Might as well exclude everything from the estimate. When I asked why it wasn’t itemized, Alex claimed it was itemized. When I explained to him what an itemized estimate entails, he told me he would need the plans. If you want to have your time wasted and be provided with an unreasonable estimate that excludes almost everything, then this is your company!
