What an absolute gem - an absolute must stop. This is not your typical gem & mineral store. Sweeping collection of gemstones, fossils, and intricately carved sculptures. Little known is the Jade Museum on-site; the owner is clearly very knowledgeable and has amassed a stunning collection of pieces from all around the globe. Staff is incredibly friendly. It has always been such a joy for me to visit!

We found the perfect necklace to go with a ring featuring the same stones. Quality products!

Originally from Quebec, I have been living in New Zealand for many years. I visited Geomania during the Christmas/New Year 2025 to find pale imitations of Māori Pounamu pendants and jewellery in "Canadian Jade". There was no mention of the native people of New Zealand, no mention of what Pounamu (NZ Jade) represents for the Māoris, and no information on the designs selected (e.g. fishhook (Matau) - Teardrop (Roimata), etc.). In my book, this is called CULTURAL APPROPRIATION, which is a practice that a lot of us no longer support in 2025. The pieces exhibited were showcased under "Les Pierres du Québec - Le Jade du Canada" in the small adjacent room. This was shocking for us to see. We had intended to purchase a little souvenir before leaving, instead we left the shop to never return. Please do not claim Māori art as "Québec" original pieces and sell this at a huge cost to tourists. There are an abundance of beautiful indigenous art and designs in the province and in Canada that could be showcased instead. A big disapointement. I wasn't proud to be a Quebecker when I saw this.

Geomania is a true Quebec City institution, open for decades. The staff is welcoming and passionate. It's always a pleasure to browse the store and admire the wide variety of rocks, minerals, and fossils on offer. The prices are high, but the quality, selection, and expertise justify the experience. A beautiful, well-located shop. A visit well worth the detour during a stroll through Old Quebec.
