We stayed overnight on 1/18/26, we arrived at 12:15 pm and checked in with the front desk, at that time a room was not available but told us that we would get a text when available so, we went to The Still for a few drinks & food, our waitress was fantastic, we sat there for about an hour & half. Check back with the front desk on room availability, nothing. I might add that we were a little surprised with the lack of professionalism we received at the front desk, it seemed as it was the first day on the job. We then left the Still and went to the Marketplace by the time we left there it was about 2:00, we went back to the Casa and sat in our car as we watched others go into the Casa with their luggage @ 2:45 we went back to the front desk and asked about our room again, they said we will text you when it's ready but it should be ready in about 10 minutes, at 3:30 I called the front desk and they said our room was ready, I asked why didn't we get a text, he said after 3:00 they get to busy to send text. We get into our room and the carpet was dirty and there was spider webs from the chandlers to the ceiling & from the bedside lights to the ceiling and the toilet had bowl cleaner running down the side of the toilet. One would think with paying over $400 for a room you would have bed pillows that were suitable for that type of cost, I've had better pillows at a hotel 1/3 rd. the price (not a resort). Not sure I would suggest to anyone to go to GVR&S for any occasion. Also, some of the facilities were not open for business. And the only reviews that get a reply are those that rate @ 5 stars.
We had dinner at the Bistro and it was so very good, great service and treatment from the entire staff. I had the strip steak and my wife had the mushroom ravioli. Great. Also a great place to visit in warmer weather for the beautiful outdoors and brick fired pizza on the patio.
My brother got married at Gervasi Vineyard, and what should have been one of the happiest days of our family’s life turned into a nightmare. Yes, the property is beautiful—but that is where the positives end. Just before the ceremony, the power went out. Instead of offering solutions, reassurance, or even basic support, the staff told us there was nothing they could do and actually suggested that our wedding party go out and buy a generator for the venue. This was shocking and unacceptable. For hours, there was no leadership, no contingency plan, and no effort to help calm or assist a wedding party in crisis. As if that wasn’t bad enough, half of the menu that was paid for was never served. The most upsetting part is that we were never informed by the staff. We only found out because our guests came to us asking why the items they selected were missing. If the power outage affected food service, the honest and professional thing would have been to explain that upfront. Instead, the lack of transparency felt shady and disingenuous. Out-of-town & international guests also experienced hotel issues, where people who paid for suites were downgraded to less expensive rooms upon arrival, adding even more stress to an already overwhelming day. This was a predominantly Nigerian-American wedding, with guests traveling from far away to celebrate a major life event in the middle of Ohio. We did not feel accommodated, valued, or genuinely welcomed. Whether intentional or not, the overall treatment left us feeling dismissed and unsupported at every turn. In hindsight, we deeply regret spending tens of thousands of dollars here. A wedding venue should be prepared for emergencies, communicate honestly, and treat families with care—especially on such an important day. Unfortunately, that did not happen here. I hope this review helps other couples make an informed decision. A beautiful venue means nothing if the experience is this distressing.
We had a delightful experience at Gervasi Vineyard! We stopped here on the way from Kentucky to Cedar Point and it was such a great call. John Paul was especially helpful as we arrived, accommodating our early arrival and checking us in quickly so we could make our scheduled wine cave tour. The tasting and tour itself was super fun, the wine was delicious, the rooms were comfortable, and the views were spectacular!
My wife and I stayed at one of the villas for our anniversary. I was shocked at how nice everything was. We enjoyed the wine tasting, outside dining with live music, the bars with live music, the spa. The food and alcohol prices were very reasonable, and the service was very good. We would recommend Gervasi to anyone looking for a nice weekend getaway.
