UPDATE: After writing the below review, Vince contacted me immediately. He truly wanted to hear all the details of our experience so he could rectify the situation, as best as possible. Vince was very professional and apologetic. He met with his team to get their feedback as well. He took corrective action, and genuinely wanted to make things right by us. After talking with Vince, we are more convinced that our experience was more of a "fluke", and he will take extra steps going forward to make sure his future customers have a beyond great experience. Given how Vince handled this situation, we would 100% hire him back. Thank you, Vince, for rectifying this. We had so much hope for GTI Catering. Their professionalism and organization leading up to the wedding was wonderful. Working with Justine to organize the food options was a seamless process. Also, coordinating with Linda, our Day of Coordinator, was equally just as well. However, there were some hiccups on our wedding day. :( We understand catering such a large event, and at a remote location can probably get tricky. But, we were hoping for better. 1. We had 2 bartenders. The female bartender was FANTASTIC; she was very lively and nicely interacted with guests. However, the male bartender was DRUNK. The guests noticed. When the wedding was wrapping up, he admitted to us that he took 3 beers. So, in other words, he stole the alcohol we purchased. Also, after he "left", my husband noticed him roaming around the back of the estate (venue) in which we were staying the night at. It was a somewhat scary situation. This was simply unacceptable and I would expect some compensation to reimburse us at the very least for the bartending services we paid for. 2. Salads were placed on the tables outside right as the cocktail hour was starting. Cocktail hour lasts for an hour. Are salads supposed to sit on the tables for 1 hour outside before guests eat? Our son mentioned his salad looked wilted. 3. Coordinator. I truly believe Linda did everything in her ability to make it a wonderful day for us. She was busting her butt all day to get things covered. I'm not sure if she needed more help, even though she did have an assistant, and I hired 2 ushers separately to assist as well - but, there were things missed. BAR - My customized bar signs were never placed out, so guests did not know of our 2 signature drinks or what drinks were offered in general. I bought customized edibles to go in the drinks which were not used as well. $ down the drain. I'm not sure what happened, as I clearly had a bin labeled "BAR ITEMS". CAKE - This may be my fault as well, but I had placed the cake stand on the table where the cake would go. When we went to cut the cake, none of the cake accessories were put out. This included personalized items, such as the cake topper, cake knife/server, and forks. I was disappointed to see the items I put thought and money into missing. The items were all in a bin clearly labeled, "CAKE ACCESSORIES." GENERAL - I was expecting to see Linda during the day, but never did. Thankfully, I had a printout of my timeline with me to catch anything not going according to plan. For instance, the florist showing up later than expected and not having my bouquet right before walking down the aisle. 3. FOOD: There were 3 people who were supposed to be served a vegetarian plate, which did not happen. There were 3 kids, including our son, who were supposed to be served pizza. It wasn't until mid dinner that our son came up to our table to ask where his pizza was. Some guests mentioned the meat being overcooked. Our adult son and daughter mentioned the salad looked wilted. THINGS THAT WENT WELL - The lamb chops at cocktail hour were a hit. My husband and I appreciated a server bringing us a plate of appetizers (which were yummy!) while we were busy taking pictures - nice touch! Our food was served first and I enjoyed it all - no issues. The female bartender always made sure we had the drinks we wanted. Linda worked really hard, and we appreciated her effort.
From the beginning with the search for caterers for our daughter’s wedding to the actual wedding meal, GHI catering was excellent in customer service, speedy response times and quality tasty food. We had guests in attendance from coast to coast and many commented this is the best wedding food they have ever had. We have to agree, it was even better than the taste testing! Justine recommended a sit down family style dinner and that was absolutely the best suggestion because the bride & groom as well as MOB & FOB actually had time to sit and enjoy the food with everyone else and then mingle. GHI catering is wonderful! We hosted a smaller sized event for my husband's 40th birthday. GHI catering was quick to respond to our inquiry and worked with us to plan exactly what we wanted with an "oyster roast" type menu. Their staff were incredibly friendly and professional and the food was delicious! From start to finish, we highly recommend GHI catering for an event in your home! Thank you!
We used GHI Catering for our wedding rehearsal dinner, reception, late night food and DJ. Our rehearsal dinner was buffet style and reception/late night were the food truck. From the beginning, GHI was very responsive and courteous. Our food tasting was delicious and the food was just as good (if not better) the weekend of our wedding! I love that they offer so much to minimize the amount of vendors you need to coordinate with. They traveled about an hour and a half for our event and were timely throughout. The staff was absolutely amazing and so kind on our wedding day! I loved that they seemed like they were having a great time. Travis was such a fun DJ! He kept the partying going and even tolerated the ridiculously long list of songs my husband sent him beforehand :) I absolutely recommend GHI for any of your catering or DJ needs!
When we first went for a tasting, we knew this was a company we wanted to work with. From the beginning, Vince, Angie, and Jo were an absolute pleasure to work with. They handled the linens, set and strike, helping with coordinating, and making sure my husband and I ate, and always had a drink/ water in hand. Jo was a God sent to us and was so calm and organized even through the last month of my frantic back and forth emails. The room looked incredible and I was just smiling all night seeing how everything went off without a hitch, and that was because of Gotta Have It. Oh, and the food was INCREDIBLE!! I will recommend them again and again to all my friends and family!
