We are a family of 5 and we highly recommend Daniel's Ghost Walks. They are very well done. He also helped us with last minute changes. We were going to have to cancel, and he offered to open up a spot for all of us at the earlier walk. We were so appreciative. The bus is fantastic and the guide was a hoot. The guides at the Castle were helpful and knowledgeable. A wonderful adventure all round.
Fantastic experience! My family and I have lived in Hamilton Ontario for all of our lives, and never knew half of the history as what we were told on our tour! Very thorough and "edge of your seat" experience! My family and I can't wait to explore the other locations! The bus tour was great... Dundurn Castle is absolutely gorgeous..
I really enjoy attending Haunt Walks tours. I am interested in the darker history of Ontario. I like the added touch of interviews of real experiences of people who worked in the buildings. I would also like to add the First Nations history of the land to the tours especially war of 1812.
This was a lovely experience. I loved hearing about the history of Hamilton and the staff were very warm and engaging. I wanted a more guided tour of the castle and they explained that that is freely available for anyone with a local library card. I'm looking forward to going back and spending more time. I recommend taking an earlier tour so there's enough light to see the sites during the bus tour portion.
I've done 4 tours with Ghost Walks over the last few years (Niagara-on-the-Lake, Castle Kilbride, Dundurn Castle and the Hermitage Ruins). All of the walks have been quite well organized, with well presented stories and entertaining story tellers. My latest experience was last night (Sept 20) at the Hermitage Ruins. I attended with my wife and our teenage daughters. The walk to the ruins and associated stories were entertaining, and we were given 10 minutes to wander the ruins as the next group arrived. Our company experience quickly soured at this point, as our guide, Tyler, left with the group without properly announcing or making sure the group was there. My wife and I were separated from our kids, and spent the last 15 minutes of the evening trying to find our kids on the dark grounds, not knowing where the tour group moved on to. Ultimately another staff member was able to point us in the direction of the tour, and we were reunited with our kids on the parking lot. Our kids later told us that Tyler asked if everyone was there before moving on, saying, "Oh well, close enough" when seeing not everyone was there, and proceed to move along without all of the group. My wife and I were not the only ones left behind, as I came across another tour group visitor on the phone trying to find the group as well. This experience has left a bad taste in my mouth with this company, and I would not attend an outdoor event with them again. If you do go on this tour, be sure to stay with the guide at the ruins, and don't believe them when they say you will have time to explore and they will announce when they move on.
