This moving company did a fantastic job!! My husband had nothing but positive things to say about the crew who packed up our household in Fairbanks; and I have nothing but positive things to say about the crew who delivered and unpacked our belongings in Anchorage. I am shocked at how they lifted and moved some extraordinarily heavy items so smoothly without damage or even a scrape on a wall. They were also very kind and patient with me as we navigated a LOT of stuff with some small spaces--which took some expertise and finesse on their part. They went above and beyond our expectations. I have never had such a stress-free move 😆❤️
Do NOT use Brian with Golden North. He did a walkthrough and told me a LOT of things that sounded really great. A month later when we were finalizing everything, it turned out that 95% of stuff he told me wasn’t possible or wasn’t true and I was backed into a corner to use this company, which I only used because of the things he had told me. By the time we found out, it was way too late to get another company locked in. Very disappointed that their “sales rep” actually doesn’t know the rules and regulations of his own company. Very frustrating and we ended up paying a LOT more because of his lack of knowledge. Highly recommended using Alaska Preferred Shipping or any other carrier before considering Golden North!
I've known about Golden North for 20+ years having worked in relocation arrangements in a previous job. After having a few different companies quote my move, I selected Golden North as my origin agent for an out-of-state move, as they provided the greatest value for my move. I did the home quote/review 100% virtually and it was seamless and spot-on. Mira and Taylor are fantastic. They provide timely and professional communication. I was able to speak to them when I called and any messages were returned the same day rather email or phone. In the supply chain/logistics industry in today's marketplace, that is a rare find and adds to the overall quality of my move. The packing was professionally done. I've had terrible movers before and I can say that my things were packed with care. In fact, I have zero broken glass because of the care that was taken. The 3 person crew did a great job packing and loading. My delivery agent was late on the day of move-in. Mira worked with the delivery agent to get an updated timeline and get things moving in the right direction. Within 30 minutes I had a phone call and a new estimated delivery time that the crew met. First of all, if you are planning a move in Alaska, these guys are who you should contact. Our move to the Kenai Peninsula was anything but typical. We dealt with shipping issues due to the pandemic, a seriously long distance move from the East to Alaska. Golden North took care of us from the Port of Anchorage to the Kenai Peninsula. The coordinator called us prior to the move, and was courteous and helpful. On the day of our move, we had below zero temps and had 10 inches of snow on the ground. We had also been told that because of where we lived they would probably need 2 days so they can bring our stuff to the house in several truckloads. When they arrived at our house, they were courteous, and immediately began to lay cardboard down so they didn't mess up our floors. We discussed where things went and they immediately got to work unloading. Much to our surprise and delight, they were able to bring everything up in 1 truckload. We told them to leave the boxes in the garage so we could go through everything at our pace. They stacked the boxes in such a way that we could get our car in the garage as well, something we greatly appreciated. My only "complaint " was that some of the heavy boxes were stacked high up, but space was limited, and they did an overall great job. They placed the furniture where we asked them to and removed and discarded all packaging. They get further props for working while we had a 5.9 earthquake shake the house for about 30 seconds! The movers were extremely courteous, very efficient, and were done with our move in 2 1/2 hours while working in extreme temperatures. I know that if I have to make a move in the future, I will not hesitate to contact Golden North moving. They were fantastic! Very highly recommend, and that is high praise from me, because the beginning of our move with another company was disastrous. Our previous company, backed out the day they were supposed to have had our things packed, after telling us to go ahead and start our 5,283 mile journey to Alaska. Golden North is worth every penny in my eyes. Thank you so much for redeeming the moving industry for us.
In September 2019 our business Snow Blossom Acupuncture, LLC - Wellness & Float Center gave Golden North a very big task. We had them move a Float Tank up to our second story office, in which they had to use the stairs. They worked hard to take care of our new piece of equipment (which was very very heavy) - everyone that helped in this process gave exceptional care to this unique move. Thank you Golden North for your expertise & your friendly office staff, managers & heavy lifters!
