Great food and produce unfortunately all of it very expensive. Expect to spend twice as much as the next Farmers Market. Plus the vibe with the local people seems to be going downhill as well. Too many angry people in Oakland.
If you live in Oakland area there is no reason to buy fruits and veggies from a grocery store. They have all you need and then some! The vibe is wonderful and the other food vendors are amazing. From baked goods to pasta to clothing and home decor, they're is something here for everyone. Set you calendar for Saturday morning so you don't miss out.
A leisurely stroll through the Grand Lake Farmer’s Market is a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning in August. Beneath a sea of vendor tents sit pearls of bountiful fruits and vegetables, locally made baked goods, plant-based spreads and salsas, and various beverages. In a makeshift amphitheater sits a singer/guitarist playing mellow Jamaican tunes as patrons listen while sipping on their coffee and swaying to the music with their children. A great place to piece together a filling breakfast and take in the soothing sounds and colors of this local community event.
This is a great place to find good vegetables and fruits, but the prices have gone way up the last few years. On Sat when the market works there is lots of food vendors who bring very yummy baked goods, pizza, coffee and more, but again. Ask how much things are before ordering :) you can thank me later. There is parking right next to the place or you can park across the treat at TJ’s.
I love this market but a vendor broke off the chip of my credit card in there credit card reading machine and it caused me so many problems for the rest of my trip. And I had to order a replacement card when I got home back to Georgia. Also not enough bathrooms there were only two porta potties and they were disgusting there was no light It's horrible experience. The live music was magnificent and the fact that it's on a lake, a large grassy park, and a playground is just so family-friendly and awesome! Got some delicious gourmet organic nuts and some wonderful smoked salmon jerky, and delicious California oranges.
