Nancy P in the gift shop is an awesome asset to your company. She has gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome here in Reno. She made sure we were comfortable in your hotel and overall contributed to our relaxed stay. Each day as I exited the elevators she was at her station in the gift shop. She always noticed me passing and said a cheerful good morning. Not only did she ask about my plans for the day but the next day she remembered the plans and asked about them. She was very informative about things to do and places to visit. I believe with more people like her on your staff this hotel casino would rank among the world’s best.
My overal local experience was good to great keeping in mind there is always room for improvement. My stay was for the weekend in Jan. and even though I'm a local of Reno anytime I receive an offer for free nights I never say no. Was it really free ? Yes! It definitely was, BUT I Thought I only had to put up a $50 deposit, and here is where my experience begins. * Really free nights any days as long as available, I was able to stay on a Friday and Saturday checked out Sunday * Deposit: 50 (x2 deposit per night) plus an additional 50 to hold the room This wasn't explained to me till I checked in and luckily The person at the desk was able to do $100 deposit as I requested instead of $150 so THANK YOU ️ * New elevator system , so far it seems to work well you must have your key to for the Vista elevators and pay attention to what elevator you are delegated * No signs showing where ice machine or vending machines on the room floors but eventually I found the ice machine * The room was your very basic room the paint on room door was chipped and looked tacky *No microwave * NO FAN IN THE BATHROOM - this should always be mandatory! * Blow-dryer *No pen or pad, no small brochure of casino resort * Coffee pot with the necessities *Ice bucket and glasses *Cute mini fridge *Safe * I don't think there is dry cleaning service ( didn't see a bag in closet with any tags ) *Iron and board *AC & HEAT Overall my experience was good to great . The staff is extremely professional and (always remember it doesn't hurt to ask). The staff really stepped up to see that my needs were met. ; *I had to get my car from valet to get some things out and they pulled up my car allowed me to grab my stuff and took my car back. * I asked housekeeping for extra towels after bringing the towels I realized I needed more shampoo and with a smile she said np and grabbed me extra and brought back to me. *A family member of mine had a small medical situation and EMS was on site and was able to assist. * I needed a few extra minutes during checkout and front desk was able to give me an hour. The Crystal Lounge on Saturday was jumping, the music on the casino floor was great with a variety, the points on the players cards accumulate pretty fast and the more you play the more benefits you receive! My mini get away was perfect and I'm looking forward to more free nights and my tip for free nights is ask exactly what the deposit will be and what other charges will be accumulated if any. GSR is a great home away from home and to those not from Reno; if you're looking for a resort with all the amenities this is the place. Plenty of family activities, new slots , plenty of tables , a huge variety of dinning including a round table pizza. And the atmosphere is enough to make a local feel as if you're in an all inclusive.
I immensely enjoyed my 2nd visit to the GSR Spa. I was delighted to be greeted by Leslie at reception. I remembered her from my previous visit and she remembered me! Her warm welcome was greatly appreciated. I immediately felt very comfortable. She is such a nice person and her help with getting situated was both professional and friendly. I had a massage with Gabby and will strongly recommend her service. Thanks again ladies! Debbie
Saw a concert. Did not stay overnight. It's a casino, so: cigarette smokey and a lot of people. I think casinos either are your jam or they're not. The concert was outstanding. We have seen shows here before. GSR consistently hosts bands we want to see. Bathrooms are clean. The actual concert theater was NOT smokey, just the casino floor (like all casino floors). Parking is free and easy (a RARE thing in this world), and egress was quick. Make a dinner RESERVATION if you plan to eat at one of the casino restaurants before a show. We have twice wound up eating Port of Subs in the basement (really a nice Port of Subs, honestly, and just fine). Just, Reno area folks might be surprised to need a reservation for mid-level casino dining. There is a Johnny Rocket's in the basement too, and a cafe with sandwiches on the casino floor, but be prepared for lines and limited seating.
Very well decorated hotel for Christmas the valet service is wonderful and attentive. Does have a heavy cigarette smell in lobby. Has many family friendly amenities. We traveled for 7 hours to The elevators need to all be utilized at one point we were crammed in because it kept stopping at multiple floors. If you're coming from the very top down you end up squeezed in the back. The rooms need more attention to detail from housekeeping. They have no room service to the rooms. The location is great quick access to the freeway. You can see the airplanes taking off from the runway of the airport. The noise of the airplanes is minimal. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and they go above and beyond to help correct any dissatisfaction. We checked out really early around 530 am we called bell service to request help with our luggage they were at our door within 20 min of our call, that was wonderful. We found a discrepancy in our receipt at time of check out and the staff corrected it immediately. Overall wonderful staff but the room itself could use heavy attention to detail by housekeeping.
