There aren’t too many bakeries left any more. There used to be a bakery on almost every corner so when I heard about Haegele’s (around since 1930) I had to try it. After all it’s almost 100 yrs old (I’m almost that old - 81 and counting). I loved it. The cookies and pastries were DELISH. The ladies who work there are delightful and reassured me that everything is made fresh there.

Haegele's Bakery is THE BEST! Family owned for 4 generations, their treats are delightful! This is an old fashioned German-style Philly neighborhood corner Bakery! Don't expect coffee or a place to sit and eat, rather shelves and cases full of delectable cookies, danishes, Donuts, cakes and seasonal specialties. The Hot Cross Buns at Easter are my favorite seasonal delight!
