Joining Hanuman was the best decision I made while I was in Edinburgh.The coaches were the best you could ask for very attentive at how your doing when doing drills and on the pads.The gym is also very well maintained and after relocating to Jane street it houses its own Private Gym as well.Definitely would go back if I am ever in Edinburgh again.
I had my first Muay Thai session at Hanuman last week and it was a fantastic experience. I came in feeling a bit shy since I didn’t know anyone, but Malcolm was incredibly friendly and welcoming. He got me partnered up straight away and encouraged me all the way through. He’s clearly very skilled but also great at explaining things simply for a complete beginner. I left feeling really positive and motivated to come back for more sessions. A big thank you as well to Agnieszka and Gosia for being so patient and helpful over email in the lead-up to my visit. A truly welcoming gym with a great atmosphere.
Fantastic gym run professionally with welcoming staff and students. Decent space, clear instruction and coaches make an effort to go around the class to help everyone. Coaches seemed to give their undivided attention for the full class which I really appreciated (rather than being on their phones which is too common these days!). Level of muay thai is high - they have a good few pros and they simultaneously cater for beginners, intermediate and beyond. They have a £10/session walk in option if you're just visiting or can't do a full membership for whatever reason. Shout out to Kirsty and Malcolm who took the classes I attended. To be honest it's 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 because.... a few new Thai pads to replace the ones with the stuffing falling out would have been nice - think I inhaled some foam when my partners were banging out the big kicks 🤣. Regardless, looking forward to the next time I get back to Edinburgh 🙏🏻
I've trained at Hanuman for years and this review is overdue. I joined in my late 30's with limited experience. Over a few years I came to understand the depth of the sport, scoring, and the differences in various styles. The coaching standard is very high. The coaches are very knowledgeable, fair, and can help you achieve your goals. The gym is regarded by many as Scotland's best academy and, in my opinion, is among the best outside of Thailand. The gym community are close to my heart. They've become an extension of my family. Thanks for everything 🙏.
My class at Hanuman was awesome. I was visiting from out of town, signed up for a day pass, and took a muay thai class in the middle of the day. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, and my partner for drilling was pretty solid, so we both got good work in. If I lived in the area, I would almost certainly train here.
