Sage Mechanic LLC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had a great experience with Sage Mechanic LLC during a stressful situation. I live in an apartment complex, and due to burst pipes in another unit, my heat went out. After I submitted a maintenance request, Sage Mechanic was quick to respond and come out to my building. The first technician was professional and polite, which I really appreciated as a single mom with a child at home—feeling comfortable with workers in my space, especially male workers, is very important to me. Unfortunately, the issue wasn’t resolved on the first visit, but when they came back out, two different technicians arrived and were just as respectful, professional, and kind. Initially, they thought my pipes might need to be defrosted, but instead of stopping there, they continued troubleshooting until they found the real issue and fixed it. I really appreciated their persistence and dedication to getting the job done right. The only small area for improvement would be communication—specifically, updates if appointment times change or if they might be running late. That said, this was very minor compared to the overall quality of service. I’m grateful for their professionalism and effort, and I would definitely recommend Sage Mechanic LLC.
Eric came and fixed our sink, quickly and efficiently! We had 2 previous plumbers come by from different companies and were here less than 10 minutes and “tighten” pipe. Erik took his time to assess the problem correctly and then replaced the garbage disposal. He was in and out within an hour and half, including his trip to the parts store! He was also diligent to clean up after himself, so it was like he wasn’t even here.
We went on vacation and returned to find that the heater wasn’t working. We reached out to the house management, who then contacted Sage Mechanical. Within 30 minutes, Cantrell arrived. He was very friendly, fixed our heater, and stayed to ensure everything was working properly before leaving.
Sage was hired to do the work on a home we were purchasing, we were happy with the contractor selection as we have had family use Sage in the past and they seemed to do good work. We were told Sage would be restoring baseboard piping and supply lines that were removed in a remodel, installing exhaust venting, and would perform a review of the recently installed in-floor heat that looked to be done by the homeowner and in very sloppy fashion (i.e. uneven spacing, loose/dangling piping, unsecured manifold, and screws penetrating heat deflectors millimeters from piping - needless to say it was important to us to have a reputable company review and ensure everything was done to code and without defect). We were told that the work would take 3 days. After not receiving an update after 3 weeks, we called Sage for an update and spoke to 2 people, both told us they did not have record of the job. We were then told by the realtor on the sellers side that that was because we "talked to Chris, and Jon - the owner - was the one doing the work.” 2 weeks later we were told that Sage was done and would send an invoice. 2 weeks after that, we still had not received a copy of the invoice, figuring it was coming, we walked the property for the final inspection and were alarmed at the condition of the work done - some items of concern that we observed: about 6-8" of exposed hot copper piping w/ too short of cover, ankle level (burn hazard); supply pipe running behind the baseboard line, pushing it out so the baseboard could not be secured to the wall; a supply line that was run in the wall, came out of the wall to wrap around a wall stud, then back into the wall (not kidding). The quality of work was very much in line with the quality of the in-floor heat work which got us wondering if Jon (Sage employee we were told did the work) was the one who did the in-floor heat as well, not the homeowner as previously assumed by the apparent lack of skill…just an unvalidated theory. At that point we raised concerns about the items we noticed and asked if the work was done to code and, again, requested invoices from Sage via the sellers agent and were told "we never said it was going to look pretty," "I don’t know what you think an invoice will tell you, it will only be two lines," and repeatably told "Sage is over it" and was intentionally withholding the invoice, holding up a sale of a home, because they were upset we raised concerns about the quality of work. We own five rentals and have never had or heard of a contractor withholding an invoice for completed work. As we continued to push for the invoice (the bank needed the invoice as proof the work was done permitted, to code, and by a licensed contractor) we were then told that the bookkeepers dad had died and she was out and that was why we couldn’t get the invoices - absolutely fair but in really poor form for Jon to use as an excuse if that was not the real reason they were not providing the invoice, which apparently it wasn’t because we were then forwarded an invoice for a boiler inspection and was told by their bookkeeper that Sage was not contracted to perform any work other than the boiler inspection. We then contacted the Muni permitting dept. to find out who opened the permit and was told no permit was opened for the installation of the baseboard piping, reinstating of supply lines, or exhaust venting, as required. We also inquired about the licensing of Jon B. and was told they could not find an active Muni license for him, an expired license was found. The broker on our side then contacted Sage again and, once again, they stated they did not perform the work but would look into it. They called back the next day and said they did perform the work and would send an invoice. We never received the invoice. To sum it up: poor craftsmanship, not providing proof of work via reports or invoices (reportedly intentionally as stated by the sellers realtor - a friend of Jon), no permit pulled, poor management of their scheduled work.
