Contacted House of Hounds as my elderly dog required a quiet salon due to her age. Received a generic message via WhatsApp asking for breed of dog, health issues, special requirements, and stating that every dog is treated as royalty. I replied that my dog is 14 years old and that her eyesight and hearing are reduced, so she can be nervous because of her age. Received a reply that there is a concern over the dog's age and the stress of the groom. Spent 8 days trying to arrange a short phone conversation so that I could explain more - my dog is confident with people that she has gotten to know, and I was hoping to visit House of Hounds prior to the groom so that she could meet the business owner. Once that had happened, she would have been fine with the groom. Unfortunately this was to no avail, and in the end the business owner stopped replying to me. I believe that my dog's age has affected the level of service received from House of Hounds. My dog may be aging, but she enjoys a groom if reasonable adjustments can be made. If House of Hounds did not want to groom my dog, I'd have appreciated them letting me know of this and the reason(s) why, rather than simply not replying to me. I take away from this experience that once my dog's age was known, this was not something that House of Hounds were very interested in at all. I had hoped that age would not be a barrier to having my dog groomed, but in my opinion, if you have a dog of advancing years, House of Hounds may be best avoided. I have since found a wonderful caring groomer - happy to recommend should anyone be in a similar situation with their dog.
House of Hounds is such a welcoming environment - my pup was given full rein to explore the salon. It is the ideal place for anxious dogs to have the whole space with one to one care and attention. I received updates of the groom, giving peace of mind that she was being well cared for (and enjoying lots of cuddles!) topped off with a cute bow and a bag of farewell treats! Would definitely recommend Gabrielle, and will be booking again for future grooms
The pups had a lovely first grooming experience today with Gabbi at house of hounds. Gabbi greeted us at the door and instantly her lovely, friendly personality showed. After less than 10 mins, the girls had gone from army crawling in the doorway and nervous to barely noticing as I left them with Gabbi. She was absolutely great with them and did everything to make them feel at ease to ensure they felt safe with her and the grooming process. Gabbi kept me updated through out their entire visit with her and sent me some lovely videos to reassure me that the girls were happy. Gabbi did a great job, especially considering one of the girls was quite nervous. I also love the fact that she cares about the welfare of the puppy and won’t force them to do anything that made them overly anxious, so they recognise that grooming is a good experience. I went to pick them up two and a half hours later and they were both so so happy and jumping around. The little bows she attached to their harness added a super cute touch and the girls loved their little bags of treats. I would recommend Gabbie to anyone, especially for a puppy’s first groom. I watched them turn from nervous and worried to jumping up at Gabbi as I walked out less than 10 minutes later. As well as this, her passion for what she does absolutely shines through and you can tell she takes pride in her work. I felt completely at ease leaving them there and I was 100% confident in the services and care Gabbi provided to our two beautiful pups who are now happy to be running around without fur in their eyes. Thank you ! The girls will be back again for their next groom.
We couldn’t be happier with the care and attention Gabbi gave to our rescue dog, Rosie. Being a nervous girl with some anxious behaviours, we were naturally a little apprehensive about how she'd cope in a new environment. But Gabbi took the time to really get to know Rosie, allowing her to settle in at her own pace. We were so grateful for the regular updates and videos — it was lovely to see Rosie gradually relax and enjoy her experience. Gabbi’s patience and sensitivity made all the difference, and it was clear she genuinely cared about Rosie’s wellbeing. Rosie came home looking beautiful, healthy, and happy — a real testament to the gentle, thoughtful care she received. Without a doubt, we’ll be booking Rosie back in for her future pamper sessions. Thank you so much, Gabbi, for going above and beyond! Lots of love from Mel, Maria and Rosie 🐾🥰
Gabbi turned up bang on time and immediately put tne dogs and myself at ease. I knew they were in great hands as Gabbi had great caring energy and Ralphie insisted she tickled his tummy within minutes. She really stood out from my previous groomers, sending very cute video clips to show how chilled they were with her. Gabbi is the dog whisperer and truly loves dogs as much as grooming them. Her communication throughout the grooms was excellent and it was amazing to have a collection and drop off service. Both of my dogs looked and felt gorgeous. Gabbi cut them perfectly and I know my dogs would give her a five star rating for their treatment. She really does go above and beyond, a true dog lover and I’m so happy we’ve found her.
