UPDATE: 6 mos in and confirming that I made the right decision choosing Huntington Elk Grove over other academic tutoring centers. (I'm also an Occupational Therapist with experience working with different school districts.) They attended my child's IEP, they hold monthly progress meetings to thoroughly explain the skills my son has developed and even provide the skills for motivation he needs to use in school. The tutoring curriculum filled the gap between what the school and IEP team missed. My child is understanding more at school. The tutoring program is more comprehensive than school and they really nailed down the exact skills in math, reading comprehension and writing that my son needed. My son was initially resistant to even going to tutoring since he struggled in school for so long, but within the first few weeks he was readily hopping in the car to go to his sessions! lol I've seen a range of different ages and ethnicity of kids being supported here. The tutors and staff are warm. Definitely recommend!

My husband and I were looking for some extra help for our son to help him going into 1st grade confidently because that's one thing was struggling with along with math and decoding. I looked into multiple different tutoring places, once I met with Huntington I knew this was the best fit for son. I really like how everyone at Huntington truly shows how much they care about my child succeeding. They have helped my son much. My son was struggling and just after a few weeks I could see how much my son gained confidence in math and grabbing a book to start reading. He really enjoys going to tutoring, he even at 6 years old can see how much they are helping him. He gets so happy and excited to tell me math problems and to start reading a book to me. Thank you Huntington for helping my son do better and especially for giving him confidence in himself.

As a pediatric occupational therapist and mother, I can hands down say Huntington Learning Center in Elk Grove provides the precise skills development, inner motivation for my child, and tutoring program to fill the gaps that school misses. I researched extensively between this and Kumon and decided Huntington for the customized tutoring plan they provide. The educational assessment is more comprehensive than school districts' IEP assessments. So they were able to accurately identify the areas in math, reading comprehension and writing that my child needs. Tutor Michael has built great rapport with my child, who enjoys going to tutoring! Talks about the strategies learned, common personality interests and Michael's patience. My child is a fidgeter :) Skills and confidence are already improving in just the first month. Mind you, this is after having had support from the school's Learning Center for 2 years with minimal progress, and my child being frustrated with having to be pulled out for services at school. The other students are from diverse cultural backgrounds, and the staff and tutors are engaged, encouraging and caring. The price is worth the service. I highly recommend.

I did a lot of research before choosing a learning center for my son to go to. After lots of researching and seeking recommendations from parent groups I chose Huntington learning center because I liked their approach. I didn't want somewhere that just handed packets of work for my child to do. I really loved the approach Huntington took and they were a big help in helping me navigate how I can get assistance from my child school regarding a dyslexia evaluation. The staff is WONDERFUL and so friendly, I never felt pressure into making a decision right away after my initial meeting with them. They really do have your child's best interest at heart.
