I love this place so much. The food is always amazing and quickly brought out. You usually have to flag down your server but the quality of the food makes up for it. My favorite is the pho, but the other dishes are amazing as well. I would highly recommend coming for happy hour to get bao buns since you can't get them otherwise. Miso sesame cucumbers, edamame (best item there), chicken karaage bites, togarashi tofu, and the rice chicharrones are all amazing appetizers. Weekly rotating lemonade and mocktails are beautiful. Chicken and vegetarian broth are great! The braised pork is top tier.
Midtown is crawling with unique eateries, and Ima Noodles is definitely unique. There's a large selection of main dishes like pho and rice bowls, shareable plates, Japanese soups, and more. For someone like me who was experiencing this cuisine for the first time, I relied on my server, Mirielle, for guidance. (She was fabulous and worked hard.) I had the pho with extra chicken and the flavor combination was fantastic. I wound up bringing half of it home - and enjoyed it later - because there was so much in the bowl. My friend, who is familiar with Ima, had a udon dish and was very happy with it. The dining area was comfortable, the clientele was decidely younger with its proximity to Wayne State University, and the place was clean. I would definitely go back to try other items.
Oct 2025 update: I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been here. It’s simply a great place with great food. This time I tried dessert — no disappointment. The beef pho is amazing; I still catch myself craving that flavor. The ramen and noodles are excellent too—I can honestly recommend every section of the menu. Also try the local pop and the mocktails, trust, you won’t be disappointed. Tea is also good. Aug 2025: The atmosphere and food here make it worth returning downtown every time. Service can be inconsistent, but I appreciate the unique style of the place and the friendliness of some of the wait staff.
I tried ramen for the first time and ordered the Tori Ramen with pork loin and the pork was amazing, but I wasn’t a fan of the noodles. They were slightly undercooked. I also had a hibiscus refresher during happy hour that was really good, with a nice balance of sweetness and alcohol. Overall, a nice experience and I’d come back to try pho next.
Went there on a Friday night. Looooved the vibe and atmosphere! The Karaage chicken was finger licking good, it’s a must try.. I tried their Schezuan noodles before, it’s really good if you are not afraid of spices. The Curry yaki udon and Boombap was great too. Tokyo street fries really good.. The service was great as well. Great for a date night or celebration!
