.We met with Dr. James to discuss concerns about possible anal cancer in our dog, Baxter. Dr. James was very informative and clearly explained all possible outcomes, which was exactly what I needed. After the exam, Dr. James explained that there were no signs of cancer, but biopsy samples were taken for further analysis. We were told we would receive the results within 7–10 days. I’m very grateful to have Indy Vet and their wonderful staff available to reach out to when needed.
I took my pitbull in for a wound and swelling and everything was smooth checking in. We waiting in a room for 1 1/2 hours until the nurse even came in, which is fine because we were probably lower priority but no one came it to say they were busy and they would get to us when they can. We had zero contact with anyone for 1 1/2 hours. The nurse was great, quick, and very sweet. The vet came in and she was nice but was very confused with our dog’s situation. Someone had told her our dog had given birth the day prior but we had told multiple people while checking in that she was spayed so the vet didn’t know what was going on when she came in the room and so we re-explained why we were there. The vet seemed less concerned about her wound we came in for and more concerned about the dry patches on her skin. We were told they would run everything by us with the cost before doing it. We got the bill and they charged us $32 for A CONE and a cytoplasm test that we consented to but never got results from? The whole experience was slightly annoying just to find out she needed antibiotics and an anti-inflammatory. I’m grateful she got care and treatment and I get it’s at cost with a lot of other places… I’m more upset at the lack of transparency. Everyone was nice, can’t complain about that at least!
IndyVet did an amazing job with emergency surgery for our 13 year old doggo, Tucker. He came in with a mucocele in his gallbladder, and Dr Kloft went over literally everything with us, including talking to us in person for over an hour going over potential outcomes (good and bad) and let my wife and I make the best possible decision. He was in surgery for what felt like forever, but when we got the call from Dr Kloft that everything went well, it was a relief! At his 10 day check at his regular vet back in Fort Wayne, the surgery site is healing amazingly, and he is back to his old goofball self. The 4 week recovery is much harder on us with telling Tucker "no, you can't do that" than I think it is on him. We are now 2 weeks in and you wouldn't know he had pretty significant surgery by the way he acts now. The entire staff here is wonderful. Front desk staff on check in were very friendly, the nurses and techs who checked in on him while waiting for admission were great, Dr Fisher who did his admission was very friendly as well. If you have an emergency and your pet needs surgery, definitely come here.
Kind of a long review. Our husky was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor by another vet. We chose to come here for a second opinion due to the other vets treatment of our dog. Dr. Heather Kloft and her her team here at Indyvet did exceptional with him. While our previous vet (and assistants) acted terrified of him (even though he has never bitten anyone), Indyvet had zero issues with him and gave him the treatment he needed. They kept us notified on literally everything they did and explained all of it in detail. The mast cell tumor was removed without incident and the follow up appointment was great. The removal area didn't even get red during recovery! Speaking from someone who has been to other vets, Dr. Kloft was worth the 1 1/2 hour drive and her assistant Dani handled our dog just fine on her own with no issues and kept him calm. We needed meds for him midway through recovery and they overnighted it to us. I recommend this place to everyone. Five stars for all of you! Great job!
