10/10 experience. I came in for my first appointment with Chevelle for a curly cut for 4A-4b hair. You can book a curly cut by the texture. I have very kinky hair and I’m always nervous about going to a new stylist but she was very patient with my hair and styled it beautifully. She asked how I usually styled my hair and did the cut based on my preferences which I appreciated. The shampoo chair has a massage feature, and I got a steam while I was conditioning. Very relaxing. Would highly recommend.
I had a great experience with Alyssa! She reached out before my appointment because she suspected--correctly--that I had booked the wrong appointment type based on our previous discussions. She then did a great job on my hair. She bleached the underside and dyed it teal. She also listened to me and applied a second round of dye. It turned out great!
I received a curly cut with Elena after seeing a recommendation from a social media search. I had a wonderful experience. She took the time to find out what I wanted, helped my curls pop, consulted with me about a potential color service in the future as I am allowing my grey to grow out, and is very personable. The shampoo chair was massaging! The shampoo, steam treatment, and heated eye mask was lovely. I also was greeted with a warm welcome and received some very tasty coffee. I recommend and will be returning.
Extremely disappointed my hair is completely damaged, I’ve been to Inizio Hair Salon before, and had a great experience with Camelia. She did my hair and cut beautifully, exactly what I asked for, and my hair was healthy, soft, and easy to manage afterward. Because of that positive experience, I decided to return this summer. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake. This time, my appointment was with Tyler for a balayage, haircut, and blow dry at 2:00 PM. I didn’t leave until around 8:00 or 8:30 PM, six hours later, and my hair wasn’t even finished by the same person. Tyler handed me off to Hunter, who clearly didn’t want to take over, and they were going back and forth about it while I sat there. That should have been my first red flag. The color was not what I asked for, and when I mentioned it, I was told “that’s balayage.” Then, when Hunter blow dried my hair, it came out dry, frizzy, and puffy, nothing like how Camelia used to finish it. My hair felt rough and had lost its natural smooth texture. I even had to ask for serum to be applied because my hair was so dry. When I expressed that I wasn’t happy with the result, Tyler said they’d have to charge me extra for a silk press, even though that was never needed before. By the time I left, my hair puffed up immediately after walking outside, something that has never happened to me before. I went home and tried to fix it myself, but it just got worse..static, dryness, breakage, and shrinkage. I called the salon the next day to explain what happened. Nobody called me back. When I called again, I was told by another stylist, Alyssa, that I should just wear my hair natural because it was probably the weather. That response was completely dismissive and unprofessional. After multiple follow ups, the owner finally reached out. She offered to bring me back for a rehydration and steam treatment, which I agreed to. Unfortunately, it made no difference. My hair puffed right back up when I got home. When I explained this again, the owner downplayed my concerns and offered me some anti frizz products that cost about $8.99, which felt insulting after paying salon prices for professional care. I have attached pictures. The one in the olive green top is when Camelia did my hair, I stepped outside and my hair never puffed up. The other two pictures are from this year, right after leaving the salon, and my hair puffed up immediately. Ever since that visit, my hair does the same thing every time I do it, no matter what I try. At this point, my hair is completely damaged, dry, brittle, and doesn’t hold a style. I’ve spent months trying to recover it. The way my situation was handled was completely unprofessional from start to finish, and I wouldn’t recommend this salon to anyone who cares about their hair health. The only reason I’m giving one star is because they technically did cut my hair, but the long term damage, lack of accountability, and poor customer service make this a place I’ll never return to.
I came in for a single color process for my upcoming birthday trip. Decided to do the works to get my curls healthy. Chevelle explained everything, answered all my questions, allowed me to document the process, chatted and was very friendly, and was patient with all my questions, comments, and concerns. She was very flexible with last minute changes and executed them. I told her that I have red, brown, black, and a orange/gold (and as of late more gray) in my natural hair color. She said she already picked up on the gold tones, I get sun bleached during the summer, and she said she will mix up the color formula to match my natural colors. When she was done with the application, I could see it closely resembled how my hair was as a baby (bright/fire reddish/brown) and a bit darker as an adult. When it fades out over time I know it will blend just right. She showed me how to do the curl definition technique for when I get home. When she was finished, I was so impressed! The curl definition was crazy! I haven't seen my hair do that and she set it and diffused to make sure i still maintained length. Chevelle also gave me suggestions and tips for when I go swimming on how to redo my curls. She suggested a different shower head since much of the DMV water is hard water and other styling tips and equipment to use when I'm not seeing her between color sessions. She was so informative and pointed me to a nearby beauty supply store to pick up a new bonnet and a foaming setting formula, I purchased travel sized hair products that she suggested from the salon. I had a really good experience with her. She even said I can still see my other stylist for when I straighten my hair in the winter, that gave me relief because I told her I don't like going out in the cold with a damp head.
