The teachers at this institute are wonderful. I took ukelele classes in person and online as an older adult for 5 years before moving out of state. They are not just teachers but amazing skilled performers at special events in the city. They teach students with patience, kindness and consider the whole person not just their musical skills.

Our son took classes with Berk and Eymen for 3 years and we were very impressed with the progress he made. He took piano and voice lessons. His teachers were extremely professional and very understanding of him as he is living with Autism. We recommend the Institute of Musical Arts to any family looking for a safe place to take lessons.

My experience started with my son as a student. The pace at which he picked up the piano was the method and patience of the staff. I was so impressed, I became a student. Birch was my guitar instructor. His passion for music is evident in how this entire institute operated. I was a student for a year and I walked a way with a new love from an old hobby. In addition, I had a chance to perform in a recital with my son. A moment our family will never forget. This is an institution of music and happy moments to build, share and cherish for a lifetime. My daughter took guitar lessons (and did some singing too) with Berk for at least a year or more. She went off to college in another city so couldn’t continue. But she absolutely loved working with Berk. He was patient, kind and encouraging. He meets each student where they are in their learning process and does a great job of customizing his teaching plan to each student so that they enjoy playing. My daughter really didn’t want to do the performance at the end of the year because she doesn’t like being on stage or people watching her play, BUT Berk convinced her to perform so she played the guitar and sang. It was beautiful!!! I highly recommend Berk and his music studio. We drove from Boerne weekly and it was worth the drive!

Started piano lessons here because I wanted to learn a few songs, ended up sticking around for 3 years because I enjoyed it so much. Strong focus on the fundamentals instead of just copying the notes, so learning new songs became much easier and sound a lot better. I gained an appreciation for classical music and also had the chance to play on stage at the recitals they host. Eymen is a wonderful pianist and teacher, Berk is always friendly and welcoming, highly recommend this school for anyone thinking about learning an instrument!
