I called the store late on a Friday night looking for a specific audio cord, and the staff was friendly over the phone to help me figure out exactly what I needed. They had the cord waiting for me at the front counter by the time I arrived and I couldn’t be more pleased. It’s a very cool space in a historic part of DTLA, and they host open mic nights. Will be back to check that out!
My experience with Ihomi and Alex was extremely disappointing. I placed my order during their Early Black Friday Sale, and late the next day Alex contacted me saying their system had a “glitch” and the items were priced incorrectly. Instead of honoring the listed price, they switched my order to a floor model without telling me upfront. They also refused to honor the free shipping that was advertised. Alex said he would “take a loss” if he refunded it, which felt unprofessional and shifted the responsibility onto me as the customer. Throughout the conversation, he was also noticeably short and rude, which made the situation even more frustrating. Because I didn’t trust their shipping process at that point, I decided to pick up the order in person. I paid the additional $40 for the accessory cover, and Alex told me it would be drop shipped from the factory since they were out of stock. However, that cover was never sent. After taking my payment, communication stopped completely with no tracking number, no updates, and no follow up at all. This entire experience showed a lack of honesty, professionalism, and reliability. If you are considering buying from this store, please be aware of the issues I encountered and proceed with caution. Based on everything that happened, I cannot recommend this store.
I had a great experience at International House of Music thanks to Jorge! My son plays the bajo and originally picked a color that wasn’t his first choice because the one he really wanted was out of stock. A week later, Jorge personally called to let us know that the color my son wanted had arrived and offered for us to come in and trade it. That kind of follow-up and customer care is rare these days! It’s amazing the level of service they provide here — we’ll definitely be coming back.
Great place to do business. I ordered a bass from them new and they called to let me know the only one they had was actually a floor sample. They wanted to make sure that was ok with me. When I said it was they voluntarily added a few “extras” to sweeten the deal, and the bass arrived a few days later well packed and in perfect condition. Some other stores would have just thrown what they had in a box and let it go without saying anything.
This place is truly a historic gem! They have so many options in terms of musical instruments and levels of experience. I bought, for the first time, instruments easy to use- cowbell and drum sticks for some low key drumming. Just walking around is exciting and staff was super helpful. Check it out!
