The service was odd, but I'll give her grace because I think she was extending her shift to cover for someone. The food was bland but the drinks were good. The fried pickles with onion were tasty but whatever creamy vinegarette they paired with it was disgusting 🫣 our pizza tasted was bland, undercooked and similar to a frozen pizza, but my friends pizza was cooked well and was fine. My shortrib stroganoff tasted like water and mushrooms and the shortribs were dry yet fatty and flavorless. Their prices have also increased recently. I should've kept it safe and gotten a burger or sandwich but I've never had a bad shortrib before, anywhere. Not even Brunch spots like Mimosa House.
Great brunch. Good fried chicken and waffle. Nice eggs benny. I wished for different garnishes (regular syrup vs. jalapeno butter, salsa, bread vs. rosti) but still everything was delicious. Friendly and attentive service. Bottomless mimosas are premixed and heavy on the OJ, but decent. Everything is $18-25 so on the pricey side. Ambience is restaurant group does fancy Black Angus but bigger tables.
The food and service is always good. This time around howeverwasn't our luck. I ordered the Santa Fe Salad, it was ok, the dressing lacked flavor. My husband ordered the fried Korean chicken plate I believe it was called. He stated his dish was also "OK and lacked flavor". We have been here a few time and we know not all dishes lacked flavor or seasoning. Maybe it was just an off night. The beignets never fail though, which is the main reason we always come. They are soft and chewy. This time around we also ordered a slice of the banana pie. It was also delicious, it reminded me of a flan the way the bananas and sauce was caramelized. Still leaving 4 stars because their food and service is usually good.
I came on a Sunday morning for breakfast and ordered the Eggs Benedict. I was impressed that the food was brought to the table so quickly that it arrived before the coffee. The food was tasty but maybe slightly on the salty side. I liked that it came on a bed of a potato patty. I wish it came with meat like a typical Benedict. I really like the atmosphere of this place. It's not the first time I've eaten here. This restaurant is a great addition to the revitalization of R street.
Amazing food and the portions are huge!! Happy hour is crazy good because appetizers are half off and they are massive!! Could eat an appetizer as a meal. I had their PBnJ Burger because I was always intrigued by that concoction and I can’t say it was the best, just different. The tuna poke nachos, sweet and spicy shrimp and tavern pizzas are incredibly good!! Highly recommend this spot especially during happy hours the vibes are great and the service was too!
