We recently stopped by Jamie’s Bottle Shop in Scottsdale to pick up a few bottles of Riesling we had ordered over the phone, and the entire experience was seamless. Even though we were only there for a quick pickup, the staff’s warmth and expertise left us with an incredibly positive impression of the shop. The curated selection and inviting atmosphere were immediately apparent, making it clear that this is a local gem for wine lovers. We didn't have time to stay this visit, but we are already looking forward to coming back to browse and enjoy everything they have to offer!
This place is great. Wine is good. The backdrop was louder house music. Fine but not as mellow as I was in the music I was hoping for. I will be back as the music vibe might change next visit.;)
Category: Wine bar. What a fantastic place for winos like us! Located in a new corner-ish spot in Old Town Scottsdale, this bright and tastefully decorated shop has a huge, expertly curated wine selection ranging from earthbound priced bottles displayed on the open wooden shelves to astronomically priced bottles secured in the temp-and-access-controlled premier cru room. The astronomical bottles are among the best the wine world has to offer, including cult wines like Screaming Eagle, many of which I have never seen outside of an auction. There's a large selection of chilled whites and sparklers. Sixteen wines are dispensed by the glass in beautiful glasses wine lovers will love. The bar seats about six and scattered tables seat more guests. If you need a nibble, cheeses and charcuterie are on offer, probably also to go. For our first of what will probably be many visits, we attended a French wine tasting of one Champagne, one white, and three reds (all of earthbound prices), along with a plate of cheeses, nuts, charcuterie, and bread. The event was held in the hardwod-floored private room paneled with wood and boards resembling riddling racks, which seats about 10 at a long table and a few more along the perimeter. The excellent, knowledgable, and very personable sommelier led us through the tasting and never lacked for an answer to our questions. I have always had trouble remembering which side of Bordeaux (left bank or right bank) is Cabernet Sauvignon centric and which side is Merlot dominant. She had a great way to remember: Cabernet is toward the left end of the alphabet and Merlot is toward the right end. I will never again have trouble remembering. After the tasting we asked the Somm for a nearby restaurant suggestion and she suggested the house menu, which was as nearby as we could get. The small menu offers a few each of share plates, sandwiches, and salads. We enjoyed the ham and cheese panini with potato chips and our friends enjoyed their choices, along with a bottle of wine from the tasting, of course. YouTube's Chef's Aprentice
This is our favorite place! All of the employees are incredibly friendly, helpful, and the wine selection is amazing. We can't say enough good things about Jamie's Bottle Shop. Katherine the wine director is an amazing resource and is always happy to give good recommendations. The tasting and educational courses are both fantastic and worthwhile experiences as well. Also, try the Italian sandwich, our favorite.
My daughter saw a social media message about Jamie’s Bottle Shop and I am so glad we went this afternoon. Had an amazing French Rosé, crisp and dry. The inviting atmosphere with light background music was a nice touch. Available is a room to rent out for about a dozen people, love the green velvet. Cheeses and chocolates are available for purchase, as is the tin of smoked rainbow trout, which was delicious. Will be back!
