If you expect chips and maybe a picy salsa, stay home. If you want salt or napkins on the table, this is not the place. If you want your food to taste anything like Mexican food, you're better off at sonic. If you like beans and rice with your entree, that will be an extra $12 for a small portion. This isn't any kind of hyperbole. If you enjoy lighting Hundred dollar bills for a tasteless, bland dinner, you've found your happy place. Good luck!
I had the worst experience. My friends and I went because we were craving Mexican food. Our server, Erica, started off very friendly. Since it was our first time there, we asked a lot of questions—which I think is completely normal for new customers. When the food came out, she asked if everything was correct. My dish was missing, so she asked what I had ordered. After about 10 minutes, my food finally arrived, and I enjoyed it. The issue came when we asked for the bill. There was a 20% gratuity added, and the check listed 6 guests even though there were only 5 of us. I work as a server, so I know that when automatic gratuity is applied, you’re supposed to let the table know—something like, “It’s included because we have a 6-guest policy.” Instead, she said nothing and changed the gratuity on her own. When we asked about it, she told us it normally starts at 6 people, but because there was a game going on, she charged it anyway. I understand customers can be difficult, but this? She clearly assumed we wouldn’t tip and added the charge on purpose. I tip well because I know the job—I’m happy to reward good service, and I’ll even go higher when it’s deserved. But this whole experience was uncomfortable, annoying, and honestly just nasty. Also $22 for this instant noodles was not it.
La Cantina has a nice atmosphere and is beautifully decorated. The staff are super friendly. I’m not sure if it was just the day we went, but the restaurant was pretty dead on a Sunday around lunch time. I ordered the Milenesa Torta with a side of Cesar salad and the dragon fruit margarita. I didn’t enjoy my main course as much as I enjoyed the birria loaded fries (LOTS of cheese n’ toppings to the point where we definitely needed a fork to eat it). The Cesar salad dressing is definitely very fish forward and the salad was way more flavorful than the torta. The cocktails are delicious here and I like how they do a half flake salt, half tajín rim.
Nice ambiance, but crowded. Food is very good. Generous portions. Tasty Margaritas. However seems to be short of staff. Although the Corteous and friendly service is remarkable.
This place was really great, and we will definitely be back. It’s gluten friendly which works perfect for me and our server Karen was very informative, and made the atmosphere even better. We didn’t realize went during happy hour which is all day Thursday, so that added to the experience. The Lengua is a must try! I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. I’ll be back for that dish alone. The $17 Lengua dish honestly outshined the $38 dish we got as well. The appetizer of Elote with bone marrow essentially was different and honestly another must try. Ventura the bartender ended the night for us with some really great flambé Carajillos. Like I said definitely a must try and we will be back
