I don’t even know where to start. Back in November 2024, we went to tour Umbrella Bar as a potential wedding venue. It was beautiful, but just a bit small for the number of guests we were planning. Kim then brought us down to see Lago… and we were immediately hooked. We went home that night and booked it for our September 2025 wedding. We didn’t tour a single other venue because Lago was that perfect. Right on the water, stunning views, and such an incredible space overall. The pricing was unbelievably reasonable too, which made our decision even easier. A few months after booking, we went in for our tasting — and I still dream about that food to this day. Everything was so well prepared, so flavourful, so delicious. We also got to meet Gyneya (the owner) that day, and let me tell you… she is a ray of sunshine. Over the next several months, we emailed back and forth regularly, and she answered every question and concern with so much patience, kindness, and reassurance. I didn’t hire a wedding planner or day of coordinator, but she made me feel completely at ease. She promised everything would be perfect — and she delivered. During our final meeting, we went through every single detail — from how I wanted the napkins folded to the exact second of the song I wanted to walk down the aisle to. I explained the décor vision I had for each table, and she brought it to life flawlessly. The morning of the wedding, they even sent me photos of the setup so I could see everything before arriving — which, as a Type A bride, I appreciated more than anything. Gyneya and Kim hit the nail on the head with every single detail. They accommodated absolutely everything I hoped for. Throughout the night, guests kept telling us how beautiful the venue looked, and I owe that entirely to them. And the food? Four months later, people are still talking about it. Our guests said the chicken was juicy, the steak was cooked perfectly, and everything tasted incredible. The staff working that day were also exceptional — professional, kind, attentive — and we are so grateful for them. I wish I could re live that day over and over again. There is no doubt in my mind that if we had to choose a venue again, we would choose Lago every single time. It was perfect. I HIGHLY recommend Lago for any event. I can’t speak highly enough of Gyneya and the team at Lago. I got married here in August and it was an incredible experience! I was looking for a venue that could do an all vegan wedding, and from the very first phone call Gyneya reassured me that her and her team would craft an amazing menu. Throughout the year and half process she gave great recommendations for trusted vendors, she was available by email or phone for question and gave excellent suggestions. I fully trusted that her and her team would make so my day went smoothly. During the day of the wedding, everything was so professional and organized. Their team thought of every detail and every wish of mine was flawlessly executed. The drinks and service at the bar was fast, the room change from the ceremony to the reception was seamless, the whole event ran perfectly on time, the food was incredible - the chef created a multiple course Vietnamese / Thai feast with sushi, pad thai, dumplings, multiple salads, vegan meatballs, fried rice and a delicious raspberry brownie dessert. They were also very accommodating to other dietary restrictions and allergies. Our guests have told us after how much they enjoyed the food and appreciated the service. Thank you to Lago for making my day perfect. I will be singing their praise for many years to come! 🩷
We held our wedding reception at Lago this past spring, and it was exactly what we had prayed for. The space was inviting and well-organized, with a sensible layout that worked well for our guests. We especially appreciated its interior industrial design and beautiful views of Dow’s Lake. Planning with Gyneya and her team — including Kayly, Kim, and others — made all the difference. They were welcoming, efficient, and generous. Even during our reception, Lago’s staff members were incredibly kind, considerate, and accommodating, all of which contributed to a smooth and enjoyable evening. The food was excellent — fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully plated. Our guests' favorite dishes included the fried halloumi cheese skewer hors d'oeuvres, the heirloom tomato salad appetizer, and the braised beef short rib entrée. Gyneya and her team were very flexible with our dietary requests. Service throughout the night was attentive and well-paced. We're so pleased to have chosen Lago for our wedding reception and would confidently recommend it to any engaged couple looking for a great planning experience and a memorable wedding celebration!
We recently had a wedding at Lago and it was everything we wanted and more! From the very beginning Gyneya and her staff were amazing. They are very detail oriented and do everything in their power to take all the stress off of you and onto them. Your wedding is their priority and they want your vision to come to life. Their pricing is very fair and transparent. We were in the Vista room (upstairs) with around 80 guests and it was the perfect size. The dance floor was able to be open all night and no tables needed to be moved after dinner. The food is phenomenal! Many of our guests made specific points to us on how great the food was. And as a bonus the portion sizes are large too! I used to work for a catering company as a server for weddings and have been to many venues. I can say this is the best venue I've ever been to and cannot recommend it enough! The cheesecake is also out of this world!! We had a handful of guests make the point to let us know it was the best cheesecake they ever had. If you're still reading this, stop! And book your date already before it's booked up.
When planning our wedding, my now-husband and I knew we wanted an all-inclusive package and a modern, simple but elegant wedding. We only needed to visit Lago before choosing the perfect setting for our special day. From start to finish, our experience at Lago was nothing short of exceptional. The team at Lago, led by the incomparable Gyneya, made planning a breeze and answered every single one of my (many) questions. Their attention to detail and dedication to ensuring everything was perfect truly stood out. From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were in the best hands. They worked hand in hand with our day-of-coordinator (Caroline and Company) to seamlessly execute every aspect of the day, leaving us free to enjoy the experience without stress. We had our ceremony space in the Vista Room and reception in the Main Room. We enjoyed top-tier food, and a seamless setup and cleanup process. Our guests were blown away by the food and drinks (especially those made by Elliot). We received countless compliments about the duck, lamb, apps and the lemon meringue tart, not to mention the friendly staff and flawless execution of the event. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect location for our special day. Whether it was the waterfront views, the impeccable service, or the flawless coordination, Gyneya and her team made our wedding unforgettable. We wholeheartedly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a breathtaking and stress-free wedding experience by the water!
