Not exactly sure how to rate this place, but I’ll start with the pros. Pro: beautiful guitars. Also, the young gentleman in the back was extremely helpful and had customer service skills. Cons: you need a new front desk guy, asap. I didn’t get his name, but he had dark hair and a beard. To say he lacked customer service skills, is an understatement. His entire demeanor screamed, “I need to make a quota of sales and if I don’t think you’re buying, you’re wasting my time.” My son is a professional guitarist and we came to look at guitars for an upcoming present, as well as use the store for some senior pics (with permission). The vibe the front guy gave off was that we might as well have brought our 3 year old into the store eating a pb&j sandwich. In the end, we felt uncomfortable and left, but not before my son found a guitar that caught his eye. Looks like we’ll be buying that guitar somewhere else. Maybe $4k isn’t a worthy enough purchase for Lark, but I’m sure we can find another establishment that appreciates the sale.

This response just demonstrates what everyone in the San Antonio Guitar players forum have said. This store is for Out-of-Towners, Collectors and Doctors and Lawyers. No one should ever take their gear here for a trade in ever and the store should be the first to tell you that. The claim that these instruments had functional issues or 'body splitting' is a blatant fabrication used to justify a $300 offer on instruments that routinely sell for way more. The Strat is a 'Closet Classic'—it is designed by the Fender Custom Shop to have checking and age. To use factory relicing as an excuse to offer 10% of market value is either a lack of product knowledge or a deliberate attempt to mislead. The $4600 dollar guitar I was looking at looked like it had been stored under a water heater. I would love to see you find another person who would agree a $300 offer on a American made PRS SC 58 is reality in any sense. I have been a loyal customer for years, but this 'first interaction' was enough to show me how you value that loyalty. If the guitars were truly 'unsellable,' a reputable shop would simply decline the trade rather than offer a predatory $300. I’ll be happy to post high-res photos on the local forums so the community can judge the 'condition' for themselves. Lost a long-time customer today. I’ve been a loyal supporter of Lark Guitars for years, spending a substantial amount of money here and recommending them to others despite their premium pricing. I believe in supporting local shops, but after today, I will never step foot in this establishment again. I went in today prepared to purchase a $4,600 Custom Shop Telecaster. For trade-in, I brought a PRS SC 58 and a Fender Custom Shop Closet Classic Stratocaster. After waiting, I was met with an insulting offer of $300 per guitar ($600 total). Claiming these high-end instruments are "too beat up" to offer more than entry-level Squier prices is either a blatant attempt to scam a loyal customer or a total lack of product knowledge. For a shop that deals in boutique gear, they should know exactly what those models are worth. I packed my gear and walked out. If you value your instruments or your time, I suggest you look elsewhere. They’ve lost my business for good.

This is the place for you if you want a PRS

Make sure you have a "bag" for your guitar. Never heard of that in my 15 years of playing that a place wont work on your guitar without one. Called about having work done on my guitars before I come in and not mentioned on phone. Thanks for a 20 minute drive with a waste of time.

Wow, my only advice is skip guitar center and come here. John was very friendly and helped me settle on this absolute beauty. It's so beautiful I feel guilty holding it let alone playing it. Their store really has something for any guitarist or style. I will be back soon for a pedal and accessories to go with this gorgeous thing. If you want to go to an actual guitar store instead of hearing people butcher stairway to heaven and sweet child of mine at full volume on a Saturday morning, I recommend here 10/10.
