We were really disappointed after collecting our Christmas dessert today. We ordered this as it was advertised as “serving 6 people easily”, however the portion size was far smaller than expected…a small square dessert placed inside a standard cake box. At £50, this felt very poor value for money and did not match what was advertised or what you would reasonably expect for that price. While I’m sure it will taste lovely, it simply wasn’t enough for the number of people it was sold for. As a result, we had to go out and buy an additional dessert elsewhere to make sure we had enough for our guests, which was frustrating and disappointing. Response: Thank you for replying, however I wanted to follow up after actually tasting the dessert. I very rarely write reviews, but I felt genuinely disappointed by this experience. The dessert was nice, but certainly nothing exceptional, and unfortunately the portion size completely overshadowed any enjoyment. My feedback was not written “based on the box alone”. It was written because this product was advertised as “serving 6 easily”. As shown in the photo, when cut into six, each portion amounted to only a few spoonfuls. That simply isn’t a realistic serving for the price paid. We were never looking for “substantial” or oversized portions, just a normal, reasonable slice, which this did not provide. It shouldn’t be the customer’s responsibility to query whether “serves 6 easily” actually means a meaningful dessert portion. Clear, accurate descriptions are part of good customer service and help people make informed decisions. What has been particularly disappointing is the defensiveness in your response rather than any willingness to acknowledge valid feedback or consider improvement. We regularly pay premium prices for quality food and are more than happy to do so when the value and experience align. On this occasion, they didn’t. This review is simply an honest reflection of our experience, so others can make their own informed decision. Final Update: Thank you for your further reply. I do however need to clarify something you have stated as it is simply not accurate. The portion shown in the photograph was not placed on a full-sized dinner plate with a large latte spoon, as suggested. It was plated on a standard side plate with a teaspoon specifically to demonstrate the small scale. In reality, each serving amounted to just a few spoonfuls, which multiple photos clearly show. This is exactly why we raised the concern in the first place. A dessert advertised as “serving 6 easily” should provide six reasonable (not substantial) dessert portions without customers needing to purchase an additional dessert elsewhere, especially on Christmas Eve. What has been most disappointing throughout is not just the product itself, but the repeatedly defensive tone in response to completely valid and respectfully expressed feedback. Rather than acknowledging how this could be perceived by customers, responsibility has consistently been pushed back onto us. This review is not written lightly. It is an honest account of our experience so that others can make an informed decision. I won’t be engaging further.
