Level One Fitness has an old-school gym vibe. It’s a place where you show up to lift heavy and leave feeling it. The bootcamp and strength training classes are both intense and effective—you’ll feel every muscle the next day. Bootcamp leans more into cardio, while strength is all about lifting, so there's a good mix depending on what you're looking for. One thing I wish they offered is a Sunday class—something lighter like stretch and meditate or Barre would be great to reset and start the week on the right foot. On the social side, it can be hit or miss. Some people are a bit rude, especially toward women who are already in shape or have a leaner build (speaking from experience). That said, the staff and instructors themselves are friendly and supportive, which makes a big difference. Overall, it’s a solid gym if you’re serious about training and not afraid to sweat.
Level One Fitness is the best! The staff is super friendly. The gym is always clean and feels welcoming. My trainer, Ken, actually cares and pushes me to do my best. I’ve been seeing great results and love the vibe here. Definitely my favorite gym in Houston!
The Saturday boot camp is challenging and it’s a great workout! It was my first time so I was a little lost, overstimulated and having fun all at the same time 😂 but the coaches and staff were kind, patient and encouraging. They pushed the class to our limit and checked in on us to make sure that we were okay. I recommend this gym/bootcamp to single ladies. And I plan to return! Thanks y’all for a good experience! -Rosalyn aka girl with the sunglasses on 😘
Update: I attended another 10am class and had a better experience. There were motivating trainers that pushed you. It was still extremely hot but better. I’ve attended a few 10 AM Monday Boot Camp classes and while the workouts are good, I can say that the environment can be better. They need more fans because I felt like I was about to pass out even after drinking a gallon of water the day before. The instructor is kind of bland and doesn’t really talk to you other than announce the work out on the microphone. I won’t recommend this For beginners at all because I was lost a lot. The vibes is what bothered me the most. There was a woman with a short low cut with a hat on there talking badly about another woman's body and she just seemed rude and bothered by the prettier ones there. I felt like the instructor should’ve corrected it or not condoned it. I don’t like to be around mean girls that make fun of other women’s bodies or just make rude comments about other women that they’re intimidated by. I like to go to the gym to mind my business and be good to my body, but it’s hard when you’re around that energy.
I was a member for 12 months. I'm not a gym girlie and don't care for the gym but I had a goal I needed to reach and was referred to this gym by someone using one of their trainers. The trainer had intense, long workouts but it produced results. The location is decent between my job and home so I stuck through Houston's brutal summers. If I had found another good trainer and a better gym, I would have left in a heartbeat. The best time to be at this gym during the week is between 12 pm and 4 pm and the last hour before the gym closes. PROS: - Staff in front always greets you and are easy to talk to. - It seems like there is an overall positive vibe - They offer a run club, bootcamp, and some group fitness classes. (Never tried any) - Some of the trainers (male & female) have experience in bodybuilding competitions and a social media account to prove that - They sell bottled water and protein shakes - From time to time, they'll have small vendors selling food or beverages especially if you are thirsty or need a post or pre-workout snack CONS: - Call me spoiled or whatever but I don't like that there's no air conditioning. Only the restroom/shower has AC. July & August (and even June and Sept) requires extra super duper hydration. - They are slow to repairing cardio equipment and weightlifting equipment that has been ripped apart and a broken door (post-hurricane Beryl). It can take a couple of weeks before anything is fixed. - Parking closer to the front can be limited during peak hours. - They are closed on Sundays. - Their app needs a lot of work.
