I love this place and have been getting my books here for a long time. The employees are awesome! Thanks Maison Anglaise team 👏
Not many English book stores left in Quebec City so I rather encourage them than Amazon. Service and staff are excellent as well as ordering books with quick delivery 😀
Cozy little book shop, packed with good reads. Both my son and I picked out some books here recently. Staff were lovely. Thank you for messaging me back about English crosswords. My husband says thanks!
Genuinely repulsed that in this political climate you would sell a biased book by a freedom convoy supporter. This is disgusting. Deleting criticism isn’t cool so here’s some you can’t delete. Nor is blocking a customer for asking a question about what you’re selling. This is ridiculous and gross behaviour. Don’t sell polarizing books if you can’t handle the criticism. Edit since you want to lie: Your reply is a lie that can be verified by anyone who visits your Instagram page. In the caption you wrote favourable words about him. My comment was not rude at all, and I have screenshots of everything so your lies are laughable and I don't appreciate you falsely insinuating about me that I am rude or that me asking why you're selling said book to be rude to deflect from your poor business and marketing practices. You also deleted a comment that simply said “non merci” in response to your post's call to action to purchase a copy. What was rude about that? Nothing. You posted this on the day it came out all over the news that the author had convoy ties. That ALONE is a political statement. You blocking a customer for concerns about what you are PROMOTING on your page is a political stance and statement. There are other, less biased titles about Poilievre, but you chose to sell and promote this one. Your replying to me in French is a statement enough to the lack of respect you have for your clients and the minority communities you serve. You only respond to Anglo reviews in English when they’re not critiquing you, yeah? That, paired with the notion I’m rude, is one heck of a microaggression. Happy to take our money, right Guy? But your views? Quite obvious. This has been an eye-opening and extremely disappointing experience and I regret ever supporting your business. Thank you for alienating me from the one local business I could purchase English books from. In a place where my existence is not welcome, with books as one of my few refuges, it feels so good to be alienated by the one store that sells books to my community. Not a good look, but it's evident you don’t care and you’re probably the type to write off the hurt this caused as me being an “angryphone” because people like you, who think your actions are superior and shouldn't be questioned, think less of the English and Spanish communities and it shows. I miss when bookstores had heart and weren't just one of the owner’s many business ventures. No wonder you support what you do. P.S.- you spelled Jagmeet wrong, but of course, you don't take the time to correctly spell a name from a culture that isn’t your own.
Great bookstore! Very good selection of books in different categories and on many subjects ( obviously...its a bookstore!!). Service is excellent; employees are knowledgeable and always friendly. They can also order books that they don't have in stock. They also have a a smaller selection of Spanish books. Clean and well kept. They have a loyalty program, which put a small percentage of all your purchases into your account, so you can obtain free merchandise. With this program, most books end up at about the same price you would pay online...; Be sure to register for your free account!! On top of that, your books aren't all mangled by poor / careless packaging and shipping, like the big online store with the smile/arrow..... ......and you get to support a good local store, get extraordinary service, interact with real persons and can get proper advices. All said, one of my favorite store!!!! Highly recommend.
