My kids have attended for years and love it. They adore the instructors. Great place for adults and kids to learn. Update: Well, I joined in with my kids. Having trained now for a few years and traveled to multiple other gyms, this is unquestionably home for me and my family. I love jiu-jitsu in large part because I love this place: a balance of great instruction with a great culture.
I have trained BJJ on and off for about 6 years, and have tried out quite a few schools. Aside from that, I have done at least a week long trial at every martial arts school I was able to find in the Lincoln area. LBJJ has been not just the best BJJ experience here by far, but the best Lincoln martial arts experience in general. The concentration of skill and experience here is leagues above anything else I have found in this area, with numerous BJJ black belt coaches, many of which have black belts in other arts such as Judo, Japanese Jujitsu, and more. Between the two locations, there are often 10+ class options a day including different skill and age level bjj classes, lab classes, open mats, judo classes, striking classes, and more. Even coming in to LBJJ as a blue belt from another school, the coaches always made me feel like my learning was their biggest priority. They had my game figured out and started with individualized advice and coaching very quickly. They really dont seem to let any student fall through the cracks - their massive coaching staff makes this possible. Honestly, 95% of the good fighters I have met, trained with, or competed against come from LBJJ. It is a bit more pricey than some other options in Lincoln, but the massive team of dedicated and skilled coaches makes it more that worth it. There is a near perfect streak of 5 star reviews for a good reason.
Training here has been one of the best experiences I've had in my life! Not only are the instructors very experienced, but they have impeccable teaching skills. They're always open to questions and helping anyone and everyone. What really surprises me is that all of the members are like a close and caring community. They are all helping everyone else to get better and learn. They are not just there for themselves it is truly a team effort. From the beginning, they have all made me feel incredibly welcome. The instructors are phenomenal coaches and I consider everyone there to be friends and family of mine!
This is my second year dropping in as I visit Lincoln to see family for the holidays. They were very friendly to Visitors. Last year (2022) Coach Conan and Coach Jared were amazing to me and my blue belt wife. The gym was amazing clean, clear schedule and everyone was super cool, tough rolls and no Egos. This year (2023) was the same. Coach Josh and again Coach Conan were more then welcoming to have us. Great gym vibes, everyone was extremely kind and generous. I love visiting gyms and can honestly say this is an incredible gym, and the first I've ever seen that offers a "lab class" . Specific training on what you need to focus on, followed by specific position sparring. I loved it. I highly recommend this gym to other and will plan to continue to visit in the future. Tons of mat space. Everyone was clean as were the mats. Over all 5 star experience. With love , a cuddly purple belt.
